My mother made a “Butterfly Quilt” for me when I was in elementary school. At that time, she made most all of my dresses, so she cut the butterflies from scraps of my dress fabrics and appliquéd them onto squares of white fabric for the quilt. She set the quilt up with solid colored strips of fabric between the white squares. It’s beautiful and I still have the quilt!

I remember one year when Dad's factory union had been on strike and my brothers and I were talking about all the toys that we wanted, not thinking of all of the sacrifices our parents were already making to keep us housed and fed. Mom said maybe we'd just get socks and underwear for Christmas, and told us how thrilled she had been to receive a Big Chief writing tablet and an orange from Florida when she was a kid! Fewer toys could be purchased that year, and Mom actually included wrapped packages of new socks and underwear under the tree for us to open on Christmas morning. She taught us that gratitude for God's provision of what we need - especially His own Son to be our Savior - was what Christmas is all about!

I am Catholic. Traditionally, Christmas (and still today in our church) doesn't start in July or September it started at midnight on Christmas Eve to Christmas morning. Then Christmas season lasts til February. The 12 days of Christmas song started on Christmas and goes thru to the Epiphany (when the Wise Men went to Jesus). Some Catholics don't exchange gifts under the Epiphany, January 6th.... true history is full of a lot of wonderful lost good and holy practices.

If you will take an onion and slice it very thin lay each piece into a jar and spread some honey on each layer topping it with honey on the top put a lid on it and let it see it for several hours. This will make a natural cough syrup and it will stop that cough but you do have to take it on a regular basis throughout the day.
