I just wanted to say that making ghee at home is so easy and the flavor is superior to store bought IMHO. And for great directions and recipe to do it is on Off Grid with Doug and Stacy here on KZbin. And I use ghee for moisturizer also. Hope it helps. Much love and God bless. Happy New Year.

I think it’s fair to say that we would all love to see Ira and Woody. It’s so frustrating to read the comments of those complaining about it, though. Not every parent is comfortable showing their child’s face on a platform such as this, and not every subscriber is a good or kind person! I for one, have read mean or inconsiderate comments regarding how the girls wear their hair, or what they should or shouldn’t wear, or where they’ve chosen to live, and the life that they share with us. Yet some of you want them to put their precious boy’s faces on here so these rude people can play internet bullies and say mean, inconsiderate things about them. Y’all just need to let Katie and Corie be the kind of mother’s they choose to be. It’s their responsibility to protect their children, and I intend to support them in their decision. Maybe someday they’ll feel more comfortable sharing them with us, but, if they never do, I’m okay with that too! Tipper, I hope I haven’t overstepped my boundaries here, but, it just lit my fire 🔥! God bless you all and thank you for sharing your lives with us!!! Happy New Year!!!

You make an excellent point. I don’t understand why we use the internet to say hurtful things to each other in our world. Katie and Corie are the most loving and Christian young women I have ever “met” and I think we can honor them by respecting their wishes about their children. I love this sharing time because we don’t pick at each other. I feel God’s love in these comments, I hope we can continue to be a beacon of love and acceptance. Prayers to you all. 🙏

Thank you for including us. I have no family to spend the holidays with and being with you guys warms my heart. Tipper, you mentioned something being a "pretty" and that unlocked a memory I had forgotten. My paternal great grandfather, Pap, died when I was 4 but I have a few memories of him. He was from Kentucky. One time he gave me a cigar band that had gold foil on it and said "here's a pretty for you." I was so little but I never forgot it because it wasn't a phrase I was familiar with.

I grew up in Charlotte and I’d never heard of soup beans until I moved to Kentucky. Mama just called them pinto beans. She never soaked her beans and seasoned with fatback and sometimes bacon grease. Instead of cooking onions with the beans, we ate the beans with raw onions on top.

I got my jingle talent from my Daddy too! The very first jingle he sang me as a toddler was "Casey bo basey, go tell o'hasey. Thee-legged Thy-legged. Bow-legged Casey" lol. Soon as my daughter was born he started making them up for her. He could rhyme up a jingle about anything & everything & they were always funny. I'm so thankful I inherited that.

My late husband was born and raised in Maine. He introduced this "city girl" to oyster stew. Well, I fell in love a second time and never looked back. I make it whenever I can and always fall in love with him again and again. (I'm always VERY particular on how I source those oysters. I live in New England, but I vet that seafood very carefully)

That is how a mother feels about their children no matter how old they are. They worry about their safety and happy when they are back home safe. I still feel that way Tipper.

Not me. I don’t worry about my kids, but I brought them up to be independent so I don’t have to worry. And my patents taught me that it’s action and not worry that solves problems, and the bible tells us that worry is useless anyway. And my kids are safe wherever they are but it sounds like yours aren’t and that they’re only safe when they’re at your house so I’m guessing they have dangerous jobs 🤷🏻‍♀️

In Louisiana we call it the holy trinity! Celery, onions, and bell pepper chopped up fine. You sautee in butter and season well and then add chicken or beef stock and fatback and let the beans simmer all day and continue to season.

Thank you for y'alls videos. You guys are, in a way, like a precious, Appalachian, extended family to me. I have my direct household & they truly mean the world to me, but my extended family is the pits. Oh well. Once my grandparents & my momma passed away, 10 & more years ago, it all changed. I tried for a long time to be the bridge, but it really became so obvious that no one else cared. So again Thank You, from the bottom of my heart. That's like a work in the Lord, or obedience, or something --words are alluding me right now, but you may get it. When we all get to GLORY --y'all will get some hugs from me & my family. Until then, virtual hugs it is! -much love to ALL of you ~Mary & fam in NJ

Love your family and was a great celebration. Thank you for sharing. My birthday is 12/25 so I share it with Jesus. I received a wonderful birthday present in 2019 as my youngest grandson was born 12/26. Very sweet. Sadly, this was probably one of the worst Christmas’s I have ever had. My mom has Alzheimer’s and rarely recognizes me or anyone. My dad passed away last December which let into my siblings and I having to sell our state registered 175yr old family farm. THAT hurt having to go say goodbye. Our family just doesn’t seem close anymore. I live about 1000 miles away from all of this which just tears my heart out. My health has gotten worse. My oldest son and family also moved about 6 hours away. Youngest son is 20 and doing his thing. I’m so very lonely and sad and forgotten. I’m sooo alone and I absolutely love Christmas time. Not even the meaning of it warmed me this year. We are empty nesters now and I feel like I have no more to do but just sit and wait to die. I’m sorry so negative. I’m just so sad about many situations and have no idea what to do. Sorry…

Black walnuts are my favorite!! But you can’t find them anywhere around here unless you have a tree here to hull them yourself. We used to go and pick them and take them to a huller to get extra money to get by on. We would fill our truck bed to where you couldn’t get anymore in it. We would be stained so bad from the walnuts and kids at school thought we hadn’t bathe lol. It had to wear off . But those are the good one days . But I sure wished I had me some black walnuts .

Pinto beans contain a type of sugar that the body cannot easily digest. This settles in the large intestine and ferments, causing flatulence (gas). That is one reason it is suggested that pinto beans be soaked and rinsed before cooking. This may not happen to each person, but I soak and rinse to be on the safe side. Great Christmas Content!!!

Oh my goodness. I laughed so hard here (about minute mark 17) I know NOW that Matt was putting something under the counter, but when I first watched it, I thought he was beating his head on the counter, in high speed. I bet I've watched that part at least a half dozen times and laugh harder each time.

When i was a little kid, my Mom used to ask me what I wanted for lunch? Oyster stew! My favorite! It was quick and easy. As an adult, it doesn't taste as when she made it. Sweet memories. Same simple recipe she used.

My mama use to make pinto beans and sometimes instead of cornbread, she would use bread. Slices of bread and then pour the soup and beans over it. My Daddy would say, just get some “lofabread” and he had to have mayonnaise with it. But it took years for me to realize it was a loaf of bread 😂😉
