Well you’re not wrong. The real meaning is about Ronnie who was in the band the ronnetes. She married a man named Phil Spector who basically held her hostage. The title Christmas kids is because one day Phil came home with two twin boys he had adopted saying “merry Christmas” and Phil forced her to be their mother pretty much. She eventually, with the help of her mom, was able to escape and she actually died last year of cancer. Phil got arrested some time after for killing his new wife and got 19 years in prison. I do believe he died in 2021 but I’m not sure.

The first time I heard the song I didn't know the story behind it, after I found out about Phil and Ronnette I preferred my first story about enjoying Christmas as a child/adolescent and love in a teenage christmas.
