Not a windmill that is the jinney ring used to power machinery on a farm or factory. Horses were attached and walked in a circle. The big gear powered a shaft which the horses had to step over. Great vid again.

Thank you Haydn! That is a terrific comment - yes, of course, now I look at it, that is the Jinney Ring that the craft centre was named after. Thanks! Cheers, Paul

Hello Paul. Well that is a wonderful boost to anyone's Christmas spirit. Beautiful area and beautifully done. Thank you.👍

Thank you Daryl. Glad you liked it. Yes, it is a really lovely area, that isn't that well known outside of locals, I don't think. Take care, Paul

It's great to see this garden centre. So many garden centres around the country put so much into their displays, and many of them offer more than the local Christmas markets. I did like the model railway!

Thank you Alice - yes, I think this garden centre (they are the same as the Webbs Seeds Company) is the best in the Three Counties of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire & Worcestershire - dread to think how long it took to set it all up. I totally agree with you - I preferred wandering around here more than the so called 'german' markets with their super rip off prices. I prefer the more local and smaller markets. The model set up there was amazing! It was huge too. Take care, Paul

Thank you Jan. Yes, Christmas is rapidly moving towards us now. Those were the best displays that I have ever seen in a garden centre. Hard to believe that we had such a beautiful morning, then just a few hours later, that dreadful storm! Take care, Paul

Love the garden centre shots of the Xmas displays with the lovely shallow depth of field. Very Christmassy. 😊😊

Thank you Roy! Yes, Webbs Garden Centre is superb this year - well, it usually is very good - must have taken them ages to set up! I was at Hanbury churchyard in the morning - a few hours later Storm Darragh hit, just as I got home - huge change in the weather. Nice to visit Jinney Ring Craft Centre again too. Hope you had a good weekend. Take care, Paul

The garden centre was so impressive, there is nowhere near me that does that sort of display anymore. That was another delightful walk, with lovely views & beautiful churches.

Thank you Faith! I remember big Christmas displays in the department stores of old in the cities when I was younger, but hardly any retailers do them anymore. Well done to Webbs Garden Centre for keeping the tradition going - must be a huge effort to do it. It really was as impressive as you saw it on screen. Glad you enjoyed the little wander on the hill overlooking the Cotswolds and the Vale. Take care, Paul

Lovely area to visit around the holidays - I agree, it must take quite some tine for the shops to set up for Christmas. Glad you were able to get out before the poor weather and show us around.

Thank you Donna! Oh, gosh, we have had the most dreadful storm, Storm Darragh, chaos on roads, railways and many without electricty and some without water. Literally as soon as I got home after making this video, the wind wipped up to 70mph and heavens opened - you would never have thought so after the lovely morning at the beginning of the video. Only just starting to calm down now, some 48hours later. Been quite a weekend, but I was not barve enough to venture out in it. Yes, those displays in the garden centre were amazing and it was good to see locally made gifts in the craft centre too. Happy holidays! Take care, Paul

Thank you Darren! Glad you enjoyed the music choices - I spent quite sometime choosing them - I didn't want to use the ones you usually hear on KZbin videos at this time of year. Hope you had a good weekend. Take care, Paul

Hello Paul and greetings from Poland What a lovely different video. Hanbury Church, The Garden Centre Jenny Ring Craft Centre and the Nature Reserve. 4 completely different venues with 4 completely themes to enjoy. I know businesses have to make money to survive but I think in these modern times, we may have lost exactly what Christmas is celebrating. Has commercialism now gone too far?
@westcountrywanderings21 күн бұрын
Thank you Michael! Glad you enjoyed it. It was nice to see locally hand made crafts at the Jinney Ring Centre. A Jinney Ring was used to power farm machinery. However, I did not realise that what I thought was a windmill remains was the remains of a Jinney Ring, as Haydyn Wheeler comments below! I know what you mean by overblown commercialism though - however, I prefer this garden centre to a lot of the so called 'Christmas Markets' that we now see in the bigger cities. Not a fan of those! I wonder how long it took the staff to put all of those incredible displays together - and how long it will take them to take them all down again! Hope you have a great week. Take care, Paul

Lovely video! So nice to see The Archers Church. Such a beautiful location. I wondered how long it had taken to set up those lovely displays too. In the garden centre! Loved the ice skaters! A really nice mix of locations and themes in this video. Thanks Paul!

Thank you Louise! Yes, Hanbury Church is in a stunning location, and I managed to capture some golden morning light just before the storm hit. Those ice skaters were nice, weren't they? Thanks for a really lovely comment. Take care, Paul

Oh dear- I couldn’t believe it when you said- ‘well that’s it for now’ - i’m still sitting here waiting for more! 31 minutes passed in a flash- I was enjoying this so much,I really thought there must be something else !- ‘Always leave ‘em wanting more’ is a quote from P.T. Barnum- seems to apply here- thanks so much for an entertaining video.
