One way to have a nice fabric tablecloth without the messiness of spilled food or drink staining it is to buy a large clear plastic or vinyl covering big enough to go over the top of the tablecloth with some overhang on all sides. Here in the US I can take my measurements to the local Walmart fabric section. However, I think I’ve seen clear tablecloth protectors on Amazon. But the biggest thing to watch out for when buying a fabric tablecloth is not to have so much overhang that it leaves the tablecloth in someone’s lap when that person is in his/her chair thus allowing that person to drag the tablecloth and everything on it to the floor when rising and leaving the table.

Thanks Teresa!! That is a great idea! I can definitely do something like that if I eventually do treat myself to a Christmassy tablecloth! :)
