Christmas Series 2023 | Part One | Ornaments for ALL styles | Country, Contempory & Modern Christmas

Hello Friends! WaaHoo! We are kicking off our 2023 Christmas Series and I am sooooo very excited! I love everything about the holiday season! Crafting, Decorating, baking and family time! For me, this is whats its all about!
Today we are focussing on DIY Ornaments for all styles. We have some Country, some rustic, traditional and even a bit of contemporty... So Lets get into it shall we.... Holiday Season here we come!
If you would like to recreate the garland we made today, here are the spacifics...
I used 22 3" foam rounds to make a 6 foot garland. The fabric pieces were cut at 9 1/2 inches in diameter to cover the rounds.
Spindle Ornaments...
For the base coat I used Folk Art antique gold
For the dry brushing I used Folk Art Rust & Waverly Antiqing Wax
Suede Ornaments...
I used Apple Barrel Ivy Green & Folk Art Coffe Latte

I made the faux sugar cookies last year with the thick wooden cut outs from dollar tree last year. I did trees, mittens and round ornaments. So cute and realistic Just used white paint for frosting. Love yours too! ❤❤❤

I loved all of these. Do you need to seal the "suede" ornaments? They turned out great!

Hello Sandy!!! Im so happy you enjoyed all the projects!!! As for the suede ornaments, good question! I thought about sealing them. However, I tested a matt sealer on one of them, and the sealer ruined the entire effect, so I opted not to seal them. It might have been the type of sealer I used. 🤷‍♀️ I will say that if you do all the layers, the flour adheres very well to the paint so I feel like it's fine not to seal them. If you find a sealer that works, please let me know!!! Happy creating!!! ⭐️💛

How bad does the flour flake off afterward on the faux suede ornaments? Love this idea & so rich looking.

Hello Debi! As long as you let each layer completely dry, they should not flake! I have moved and shifted mine around a lot and have had no issues with them flaking. After you brush off the excess flour, whats left has pretty much soaked into the paint, so its not really sitting on the outside of the ornament. I will say though, that it really is important to let each layer completely dry before brushing off the excess flour. Over all, I think they handle pretty well. Happy Creating, XOXO Alecia ⭐❤️
