I’m going down to Brazil to celebrate my grandmas 90th birthday when is amazing. Waxed amaryllis are meant for single use and should be discarded after blooming. However, I've seen videos where a gardener will peel off the wax and the bulb will survive. I was in my local Costco 2 days ago and they were selling 3 waxed amaryllis for $24 or $25

Wow Laura that is a steal, the ones we saw were pretty spendy. That’s exactly what I did with the bulb mom brought home. She removed most of the wax then I cleaned some of the layers and set it on some rocks. 🥰

@@InTheGardenWithClaudia I know, what a good price! The people I've seen who remove the wax do it after the flowers have bloomed and then they take a chance and try to keep it growing for the next season. You and your mom are so much fun!

This was such a fun video! I couldn’t stop smiling just watching the two of you getting into the holiday spirit. My friend and I tried waxed amaryllis bulbs last year since they seemed so easy to grow. Neither of us had many flowers and the stalks were very short. I probably won’t grow waxed amaryllis again but I did take off the wax of my bulb and planted it in my garden. The bulb now has lots of green leaves and seems to be doing fine but we’ll see what happens this winter (Seattle - zone 8b/9). BTW - You two ladies are beautiful! What’s the secret to your beautiful skin?

Aww thank you so much!! I’m so excited for our next shopping date! That’s interesting about the amaryliss, I could see them being too constrained and it growing to their full potential. I like the process of planting up the bulbs in arrangements better. Also you are too sweet about the skin care comment!! We both are really into skin care. I love using a toner, vitamin C drops. I’m not using it now, but retinol is also a staple, moisturizer, and always always spf. 🥰
