I have been binging your channel for two days now and I'm learning so much about Christianity by learning from your Orthodox position. The Flight into Egypt has so much more significance than I thought! More more more please!!

God be with all refugees, especially the children, God send angels to guard them and raise them up in Gaza those who watch their elders faithfully keeping the services and the feasts under even bombardment and starvation prowling their land. Palestinian Christians cannot flee even if they wished, yet they bravely continue the first Christian tradition ever developed.

Another reason for the child Jesus to be sent to Egypt is that ,Egypt is a Roman province under a Governor and the soldiers of Herod a client king of Augustus would not cross over and murder the child as that might bring a legion down on King Herod the Great.

I was raised in the same neighborhood that the holy family stayed in when they were in Egypt, the tree of Mariam was about 15 minutes away from my home, and other sites were 30 to 40 minutes away, I have visited different places in Upper and lower Egypt they have stayed in too, Egypt is very blessed by there visit, " Blessed be Egypt my people" (Isaiah 19-25) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flight_into_Egypt

I learned quite a bit from this video. Thanks for making it, and for the research y'all did for it. I'm nit-picking here, but when the Holy Family returned, they did not return to "Palestine." They returned to the Roman province/client state of Galilee. Specifically Nazareth.
@huntz0r
@huntz0r Күн бұрын
To nitpick your nitpicking, Greeks and Romans referred to the entire region between Syria and Egypt as Palestine long before AD 1. Galilee is part of that region. In any case the modern states called Israel and Palestine don't really have anything to do with their ancient namesakes.

Why does Egypt date the arrival of Jesus as June please? I am wondering if there is helpful info for dating the time of the magi and His birth.

Egypt is indeed an ancient holy land, see Moses and also Sinai, however Jesus and His most Holy Mother, our Theotokos, are the definition of refugees, making helping refugees the basic Christian obligation
