This is so true, where were people when store wasn't closing. I heard this from a customer when ours was up for closing on how busy it was with long lines. I always liked going to Kmart than Wal-Mart because I could be in & out in minutes without waiting in line very long.
@WallieB265 жыл бұрын
I agree. One thing I like about Kmart over Walmart is how it feels more comfortable to shop here. I hate going to Walmart as it feels like I'm walking around a huge warehouse and the fact I have to dodge people that either are rude, almost run you over with their carts or whatnot, and the long lines. Kmart just feels more personal and more pleasant.

Liquidation profits are front-loaded when they "reduce" the price. They buy the inventory for pennies on the dollar, then do just as you said, raise it, then have it marked down. They are the ones running Kmart now, not Kmart. I don't know who's worse liquidators or Fast Eddie, because both seem to know equally how to close stores!
@misterhat58235 жыл бұрын

And I had an employee tell me they didnt raise the prices. She was nice, did her job well, and I had nothing but respect for her but I had to disagree. And a 4 pack of light bulbs from my last video... remember? They were originally "$10"!!! No they werent!
@charlesbolton84714 жыл бұрын
WallieB26 As a former Kmart Store Manager who went through multiple store closings I can say that you are wrong about raising prices. When a liquidation sale starts all prices are returned to their original price. What most people don’t realize is that Kmart (stores that are in liquidation) have multiple sales going on at any given moment. It’s not just the weekly national ad. There was always a monthly ad that rarely had a circular(even before the company took the ads to digital) as well as local in store ads set by corporate to help stores sell slow moving items specific to each individual location, and some store managers would often add items to different ad events at their discretion(which was normally frowned upon by corporate, but if it wasn’t to crazy of a price they would leave you alone about it). I understand how it could seem to customers that the prices were raised higher, especially considering most locations did very poorly in regards to signing sale prices. Also, considering that many Kmart customers were Walmart shoppers as well Kmart’s sale prices seemed higher than Walmart’s prices on the same items(even though often that was not the case). Otherwise, you are stop on about the liquidation company owning the merchandise once the liquidation begins, and also about Eddie owning the liquidation company as well. That greedy bastard makes more if a store is successful or failing. He was playing both ends from the start and never gave a damn about the company or the employees ( or customers for that matter).

I'm a fan Wallie and there's a lot to say about my stores here in Indiana and Michigan over the last 5 years. In my family we have a saying on road trips that you weren't having a good time till you're at an out of town Kmart and buying some sunglasses or an ill-fitting swimsuit. These stores have been closing for a few years now and it's just more dramatic and drastic now. In Michigan we have only two left in the entire state that we expect to keep into early 2020 if not later. One is in Marshall Michigan which is about half hour from where I live but it's the only retail store they have in town, no Walmart or Target within 30 miles. There is a huge-ish but crappy Little Caesars in the front of the Kmart but they are still rocking.. for now.

I'm gonna say this.......not in an angry way or blaming way or anything, but.........it always bugs me when stores are fully operational and open for business, no one shops at them, or gives two craps about them, but then when stores decide to close, everyone and their grandma suddenly cares about the store and floods it to shop and then cries when the store closes. I mean, unless a store closes because of jackasses like Fast Eddie and his corrupt greed and mismanagement, then it's kinda shoppers fault stores close when they, I don't know, DON'T SHOP there. I dunno. Anyway, felt like ranting. Sorry about that. Great video, I love Christmas.
@WallieB265 жыл бұрын
Oh no, I completely understand. I didnt shop at Leechburg much because I always had closer locations to me in Pittsburgh. Shaler and West View were my 2 local stores I would frequent all the time, actually. Reason I never filmed them when I had the chance was because they were always there and I didnt have to worry about it at the time. I kept saying eventually I will film it when I go to shop there on either this trip or that trip. But then the news broke that they would close and suddenly it became a priority to put these stores on video before the demise and ultimate closure. But I agree with you. I even mentioned it in this video. Where were everyone when this store was under normal operations? I've actually been referring to some people as vultures as they show up right before the store closes, so they can buy as much as they can with the intent of flipping the items. It really irritates me, to be honest. It's like they still dont really care, they're just trying to make a profit.
@jameyhaigh79895 жыл бұрын
@@WallieB26 When the mining company and steel mill closed decades ago, those who had any money moved to where their new jobs were. Those with little or no money were stuck in the Leechburg area. If there isn't a large enough customer base to support ongoing operations, stores close. The "vultures" you mentioned are likely poor locals who couldn't afford to pay full price earlier and are trying to stretch what little they have to make it last. Perhaps they are flipping items to make some money--but that's because they don't have many other ways of making money there.
@Liz22575 жыл бұрын
I agree. I was a lifelong shopper at the New Kensington Kmart, which closed this past January. It made me alternately sad and angry while the liquidation sales were going on, people I'd never seen coming from miles away grabbing up what they could. One hilarious thing was that on the day the store closed, Jan. 6, 2019, at 6.01 p.m., as I was going to my car, a guy drove up and parked and was in the process of getting out of his car to go inside. He asked me if the store was still open. I said no, it has closed permanently, and today was the last day. It was as if he had no idea any of it was going on.
