The leechburg kmart basically has only clothes and Christmas stuff left . I can't believe how empty this store is now. Wow!!!

Your so right Wallie, my pre lit tree did the same after the first 2 years I usee it. Last year I found a section of lights out & it is a pain to figure which one is out or if the fuse & I got so frustrated I gave up trying to figure it out. I think after this year I'm getting rid of it & buy a new one.

For all the times I went to Mattydale and the surrounding areas to deal hunt I never even knew that one was there right off the exit of I think 481.

I was just there this afternoon. Bought some stuff for the house - blankets and such. Have befriended a couple of the employees and I’m very sad for them. There’s a guy I recognize from the New Kensington Kmart. He, along with the manager & assistant manager who also came from there, are going to be losing their jobs twice in one year. ☹️

Once the New Kensington store closed, us at DG in Lower Burrell were getting swamped 24/7. Its not as bad now but Im preparing for any ripple effects this store will have.

My one friend in Illinois had that happen to her and her co-workers too. They were employed at a store that ended up closing, transferred to a different one (actually applied and were bumped DOWN to starting rate) and within a year THAT one was announced as closing too.

@@BeefShack I bet you are. You guys are pretty much the only game in town now for those of us who don't want to have to trek across the river. The Roses discount store in Hillcrest shopping center is flying under the radar too, and I'm sure they're seeing more traffic as well.

@@BeefShack And I'm sure the Big Lots across the street in the other plaza is/will be getting swamped as well. Rumor has it that they will move into the Kmart building once it closes, but we'll see. The New Kensington store is still standing empty. We've heard all kinds of rumors, especially that Ollie's Discount would be moving in, but I also heard that they changed their minds once they found out the store had all kinds of asbestos that needed to be removed.

Cool story. I bought out all the Easter eggs in my now closed big k. I donated them to a church that does egg hunts. Got $1000 in eggs for $40 . Another thing the comment you made about the NY Giants , my cousins on the team. CJ conrad

The very first Kmart in Garden City, Michigan that opened in 1962 closes in February 2020. It is sad Kresge/Kmart has been in Metropolitan Detroit since 1912. As of February 2020, there will be no Kmarts in Metropolitan Detroit. The way that Sears and Kmart are going I would be surprised if they make it to 2021.

Yes, it is very rural. The people who live in that area don't have much in the way of places to shop that are close by. A person has to drive everywhere for practically everything.

Well kmart. Asked for help and they couldnt help self plus rhey coyldnt pay back the loan that they got. So they filled chapter 7 oh well i seen all of kmart going to close hell kmart in hutchinson ks they closed down about few years or so back when i lived there its not from fast eddie its from them taking a loan out and they knew that they couldnt pay it back.. Think before you speak

They could go the Amazon route and just have fulfillment centers and NO actual, physical stores. Either that or Eddie Lamprey could sell the IP's for the names and the rights to any brands to another company. That's what happened with Montgomery Ward, Circuit City and a number of other former retail chains. They all have websites up and running now (last time I checked).

CheapestGamer that’s exactly what I said in another post. Maybe just focus all in on online stores and do away with their physical locations. If online does very well, then maybe open up some locations in major cities

@@brianb7423 The thing is though Eddie Lampert isn't concerned with running a retail chain. So I doubt he'd even be interested in keeping an eye on the day to day running of an online only retailer too. Only thing he's been doing with these chains and this company (and the one before it, Sears Holdings) is using it as his way of getting tax breaks for 'losses' at year's end while amassing whatever physical assets are leftover to likely sell off later on too.
