First time I heard this version five years ago I just had my son. It was night & I was still in my hospital room. The baby was in the NICU & my husband had gone home. It was so quiet. I used to sing carols to my dog and dress him up for Christmas and we all knew he loved and lived for Christmas. He passed away 3 days ago. I couldn't stop crying when I saw this video. This is the 1st Christmas in 14 years for me without him. Life without my dog will never be the same. This video will always remind me of him.

It won't. It does change. Every lost we have, changes us. I remember when my baby died and I went through the same 'this is the first time without him', and the pain is just consuming, only someone that lost an important soul know how that is. It's been 3 years since he's gone and I have many angels by my side and I don't daily cry anymore. It gets better even though still hurts a lot at times. I planted a tree in the place he was buried days after he passed away. Now it's a teen tree and it's *gorgeous* and I go there everyday and 'spoil' it ;P. Keep remembering him with all your heart, use that love of yours to other angels as well, and think nothing dies, everything transforms. *

I listen to it. First, I saw this video in 2014 when I was in England and left my beloved puppy at home. I missed her so much, although I was away for 10 days. Now she crossed the rainbow bridge 2 weeks ago and I’m desperate and heartbroken. She was everything for me. I lost my precious pup this May , he was 17 yrs old , he was a Havanese looked just like this dog, and I used to play christmas music and especially the Carpenters Christmas and sing to him , he loved music and he would do the same!! I am listening to this song since 2016. Everytime i feel I want a peace of mind, thinking of an ideal scenario where i drink a hot fine grind coffee in a snowy christmas while watching television, thinking of nothing but the lovely taste of the coffee. Savoring lazy days because its holidays and thinking of the grocery to prepare for christmas eve. Driving in a christmas rush, listening to a band who plays christmas carols before i go home from the grocery store and gift shop. Seeing christmas lights and old people dress like Santa. I’m here and sobbing because I remember showing this to my late father at Christmastime four years ago. The reason I showed it too him is because it is adorable and he had a little dog who looked exactly liked the one in the video. Of course, my father loved seeing this. It’s weird how certain things can heighten your memory of a person who has passed. My father adored his little dog and it was our last Christmas together. Dad was diagnosed was lymphoma of the brain the following June and passed in September 2017. 😢
