I was directed here from the AnyRail site, and I have to admit, this is a beautiful display. I'm trying to get ideas for my S-gauge layout for Christmas, and this is by far one of the best I've seen. I too appreciate not running the locos at a breakneck pace, because it gives everyone time to see more of the detail in the trains. I have the AF version of The Polar Express, so I was pleased to see yours in action! I have two other engines with consists along with the PE to run on three separate loops (Legacy, FlyerChief, and conventional). I am excited to get started! Thanks for sharing!

Love those slow speeds and the close up camera angles. The night time lighting and colors are everywhere inside and out of all the model structures, WOW !!

I'm watching this for the first time 3/23/2024 and I am thoroughly impressed. Wonderful Christmas decorations and a well designed 'around-the-trees' layout. This takes the loop of track around the tree way over the top to OUTER SPACE! I love it.

I discovered this in 2017 and its now part of life from Halloween till the snow ends, every year, and just magical around Christmas. Thank you very much ... the music is fantastic, and ending with Auld Lang Syne is a tribute to those passed, and hope for another special season. This is so well done. I wish I could visit your house at Christmas. It reminds me of my Dad's Lionel layout he made with mountains made from cement and colored in our basement when I grew up. The night time effect without lighting was the best. I only with my own family ran double track around our family Christmas tree and a siding with the track for a carpet using HO scale of 2 AMTRAK and one freight. Years later I ended up riding all the AMTRAK trains west of St. Loiis to see the West so I can relate. The video you took going around your layout just adds to the realism.

Really beautiful work put into your layout. I always try to over look anything Polar Express since Lionel has made too many of them. Never could stand the looks of those trains, but thats me I guess. All the rest of Lionel trains are fantastic running with your Christmas set up.

Thank you for all the nice comments. I could not put up the layout this year as I've had two total knee replacements this past year which prevent me from kneeling on the carpet. Hopefully, that will go away by next year as I (and all our friends and neighbors) miss the trains at Christmas. I have taken the layout apart in sections, carefully labeled, to make reassembly easier. I also plan to purchase the command control switch conversion from Electric Railroad for my other switches which were purchased prior to Command Control. I like EVERYTHING to be controlled by the Legacy hand-held controller and yes, getting down on the floor, working a transformer would not be fun, nor would controlling all the engines be easy. I have tried without success to find a way to keep two Lionel Command Control (Legacy) trains running on the same loop, unattended, without colliding. You can do with with transformer controlled engines and an isolated section of track but not with CC engines. Waiting for the solution.

This is superior to everything I have seen yet. Can I get a DVD of this exact video some way. Does TM Books & Videos have this? I don't think they could miss this beautiful Christmas video with all the classic Christmas music. Many modern era Postwar Lionel trains with sounds are the greatest trains I have ever seen.
