👍Always nice to see your Christmas trees and lights. I sure miss the times of my youth when everything seemed so clean & innocent. Parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins.. Good memories, good times! Thx Howard. Appreciate ya sir!

Very neat to see all these vintage sets. Howard, you have done an excellent job decorating. That's a lot of work and planning, your xmas display looks top! It kinda reflects the way you do all your work. Looking through the old packaging and items you described brings me back to the younger days when my parents had many of these same items. Thanks again for the memories!!! And Merry Christmas!

Thank you Howard,brings back memories of when I was a kid in our old house in the country . Remember coming home from school and that great pine smell would be in the room. That was 1963. The following year my folks bought an aluminum tree with the rotating color wheel light. That tree if you touch it would give you a electric shock if you touched it. Missed the old fashioned real pine trees. Now buy small tree you can plant after Christmas. Thanks for a great video and bringing back precious memories.All the best!!!

A friend always purchased a potted tree for a Christmas tree. In the spring he would plant them in his yard. He has some huge evergreens now..... lots of them. I love the smell of a fresh tree!

Potted trees? I need to find out about that. I usually spend about 40-50 dollars for cut trees and they’re crispy by New Year’s Day.
@OldCarAlleyАй бұрын
@@bodarville2510 There only about three feet tall at the tallest. My friend always has one on a coffee table with some decorations and lights that come with them. Come March, he tosses out the lights and decorations before he plants them in his yard.

Hi Howard, trees look great. When I was little my parents had those bubbling lights too. What I could see of the inside of your house it looks swell. I wouldn’t guess it to be a hundred and one years old. Merry Christmas!
@OldCarAlleyАй бұрын
Yep, the house was built in 1923. Model T's were the latest and greatest thing on the roads back when this was a new house. Crazy to think about. City Hall has all the tax records still, with photos in the file starting around the late 40's of the house. It's interesting to pull the file and look at all the old photos of the house over the decades. A couple times a year City Hall allows residents to look at the files. Super interesting!

Your tree reminds me of my grandparents tree out on the farm in Franklin County Indiana back in the late 50s. Sure brought back some memories of the past. Thanks for taking me back to those joyful days of my childhood. Your tree and decorations are all as you say ultra cool!! Thanks again for sharing!!

All of your inside decorations are beautiful. I Also love using vintage incandescent lights on my Christmas tree. Incandescent lights really show off the decorations on your tree. I am looking forward to seeing your outside decorations.

Hoping for some snow to make an outdoor video...... LED's all look the same, no difference from bulb to bulb, unlike the old incandescents that were ceramic coated. Every bulb has a different pattern or shade, plus the glow they have..... The LED's look like they're vibrating, to me anyway.

@ :34, I like the reflector/petal version of those lights. I remember them called Merry Midgets. I saw reproductions a couple years ago but somehow passed on buying them. I really like the C7 sets but stringing and clipping them on is a chore, at least for me. I really like seeing you saving and showing this old stuff, brings back good memories!
@OldCarAlleyАй бұрын
The "Merry Midget" was a GE trademark..... These are not GE lights. Back in that era, the GE Merry Midgets were loop sets, which were a pain to decorate with, but the advantage was one small wire for the light set.... being a loop. Plus they used a double pin replacement lamp that was glued into their plastic base, making it impossible to change the lamp in the socket, so you had no choice but to purchase GE replacement bulbs. People didn't like that and wanted end plugs to add light sets, so over the years GE just started branding generic light sets made in Taiwan for GE.
@bodarville2510Ай бұрын
Yeah, now I remember, couldn’t connect end to end. Even then as a kid, I thought that was a bad design.
@OldCarAlleyАй бұрын
@@bodarville2510 Yep, no one liked the loop light set, thats why GE made the changes they did.

Thanks for showing us your Christmas decoration displays. I wondered about what percentage of your Christmas decorations are on display compared to how many you have.
@OldCarAlleyАй бұрын
LOL..... maybe 1%. I could put lights on every house on my street and still have extra light sets!

Looking great, Howard! I have a decent hoard of the miniature bulbs as well. New for this year is a 30”x40” shadow box to display vintage light packaging, with a couple spot lights to illuminate it. Should be a ‘short’ of that coming soon. Plenty of spare reflectors as well. I don’t like the ones with broken petals, either.
@OldCarAlleyАй бұрын
With all the new in the box old light sets I have, I should do something to display them too. My issue is lack of room. My house is only 1000 sq. ft.
@dynatrakАй бұрын
@@OldCarAlley My place is a little bit bigger, but yeah, I know all about limited space! That's why I went with a wall mounted shadow box. I'll post a picture in Community. I checked, and don't have a "short" on it.

Your Christmas decorations look very festive! It's nice that your tree represents a history of your life. I'm sure the most precious are the home made decorations that your Mom made. I was looking for your Big Boy ornament. Did he make it on the tree this year? I'm going to answer "brianhdueck3372" question about the percentage of your Christmas decorations that are out. I'm going to say 1%! I've seen your collection.
@OldCarAlleyАй бұрын
Big Boy is on the tree. You're correct on my answer to Brian. Maybe even a 1/2%!
