Hi Howard, I wonder what it was like when your house was new. The world war was in the not too distant past. Jack Dempsey was the heavyweight champ. Do you think there were sidewalks then. Paved streets. I don’t suppose your garage was there yet. Any cars passing by were most likely black and model T’s. Whoever lived in your house probably sat in rockers on the front porch during the hot summers drinking lemonade. Probably an outhouse in the back yard.
@OldCarAlley10 сағат бұрын
City Hall has photos going back to the late 40's.... It's very interesting. The front steps came down across from the front door with a walk going to the sidewalk. The garage was tiny like the neighbors and up close to the house. I pulled all the past building permits issued, before purchasing the house.The garage currently there was built in 2002. The windows were replaced with casement windows back in the 60's.... all the windows except the casement windows were replaced in 2012...... the casement windows got dual pane thermo glass at that time also. I couldn't find when the porch was changed , but I assume from the photos, that was done in the 60's also. The past owner had two Model A's. Thats why he built the larger garage. The past owner was here since the mid 60's.

Nice blower. We don't have to worry about snow here in south Florida.; Downside is that we have to mow grass 3 times a month all year

I enjoy the seasons. I missed snow when living in Savannah, Ga.

Well, We received a little more than 6 inches here in Bartlett, TN. This is the third year out four that we have had significant snow. This prompted me to purchase a battery powered snow shovel. It’s a Toro. Works great. I used it yesterday January 10.
@OldCarAlley2 күн бұрын
Yes, it sounds like the south has got more snow then here in Michigan. We ended up with five inches.

Am I seeing some flasher ceramic C9 bulbs on that small tree? I didn’t know those existed.
@OldCarAlley2 күн бұрын
Yep..... I have ceramic blinkers, plus ones with the flame glass that blink also...... there ultra rare. Most of the ones on the tree are outside coated blinkers in C9, though a few are old inside ceramic coated blinkers, because I like having a few to enjoy.

@OldCarAlley Do you also buy and sell old ornaments for trees? I’m trying to find some like we had on our trees back when I was a kid.
@OldCarAlley10 сағат бұрын
@@bodarville2510 Rarely unless there really cool retro glass ones. Most I use are from travels and friends that give them to me. Most have a meaning. Mostly collect vintage C9's, C7's and old mini lights from the 60's if they're still new in the box.

What kind of a tree is that outside your back door with the C9 lights on it. It's a very odd shaped tree. It's kind of mushroom shaped. That old Montgomery Ward snowblower seems to do a nice job. I'm sure it would be a bit less impressive if the snow was wet and heavy but all snowblowers get taxed with the wet heavy stuff. So far, knock on wood, I've only had a couple small snows here in the NH seacoast. At the moment there isn't a flake on the ground but the weather gurus are saying we may be in for a dusting to an inch on Saturday. That's fine with me. Less to clean up.
@OldCarAlley2 күн бұрын
The tree is a Dwarf Snow Fountain Cherry.... a man grafted tree. They don't grow in nature. It has solid white flowers in the spring.... looks covered in snow, but there flowers. Last winter I used the Ward's blower.... every snow was slushy. It still worked good, but the chute would plug now and then.

These older machines from the 1970s & 80s are virtually indestructible if you maintain them, and outperform most snowblowers made today. I have a nearly identical 1980s Snapper to one that you featured in one of your older videos. Today we received the same powdery snow in the Chicago suburbs. I finally had chance to use the Snapper for the first time this season, and the 4hp Tecumseh started on the first pull 😎Happy snow-blowing!
@OldCarAlley3 күн бұрын
Yes the old ones are much better.... My regular service snowblower is a 1976 Ariens. The two stage Snapper was my folks. It was a great snowblower. I gave it to my folks neighbor when I sold their house. I had an older Snapper two stroke single stage with electric start that was garbage picked. It was an amazing snowblower. All it needed was a good carburetor cleaning to get it working. Kinda wish I kept it, but gave it to a friend who loves it.

Yeah it does.... I took everything inside down last Saturday. It sounds like next week we could get a day or two in the upper 30's. If we do, I'll take the front lights down. Surprisingly a LOT of my neighbors still have lights up and on every night still.

Beautiful lights and scenery. Thanks for sharing. We don't get very much snow in northeastern N.C. anymore. That's a nice snowblower, I wouldn't think you would have much trouble selling that. The best 8-track tape player I ever bought came from Montgomery Wards. 😊😊

Ward's power equipment was manufactured by Gilson Products. They made great products..... some of them much better than Sears or Craftsman power equipment. This snowblower has almost no use. With my borescope I can still see all the machining on the cylinder walls still. With the snow and the lights still being up, no way I could not go out in the cold and get some good video of the lights in the snow!

I see you didn't remove the little chrome knob, that holds the glass lense. Do they not come off easily, if you wanted to replace the lense?

Often they come off easy. This one was stuck on and I didn't want to take a chance on breaking the stem off, as they're very thin. If the lens was bad, yeah I would have had to get the knob off.

I am really looking forward to riding this bike! I hope to order the cables and brake hoses today. I hope to sand the body filler today too. Once the parts are painted, the bike will be very close to being finished. I'll install the electronic ignition closer to when I get it on the road, as I will need to have the engine idling to set the timing correctly with that electronic ignition I purchased for the bike..... I might have snow to deal with today though. Hoping the snowblower starts "IF" we do get the snow..... it has not been started since last time I used it, though I did drain the gas, so it should start.

My Corvair’s ignition system couldn’t be in an easier location to access. I still put on electronic ignition and never looked back. I’ve put them on all my MerCruiser’s over the years too. It essentially turns the ignition system into a set it and forget it scenario, removes a lot of variables from tune up issues. Even though I usually still carry a set of points and condenser in the glove box, I’ve never had one fail.
