Our house used to be jam packed at Christmas. We invited all our friends whose families were far away. My mom always made a huge standing rib roast and hundreds of cookies. After dinner all the kids would go to a movie.

Hi Nicolas, I was born in 1949, just 3.5 years after WW2. Economics were still not at peak and in my little rural town in the deep South, USA, life was at a minimum in nonessential things. At 4 years of age, I watched my mom gather trash and bits of junk. When she was finished, she had made the most beautiful Christmas Wreath and tree ornaments I had ever seen to this day. I credit that experience to my becoming an artist, inferior designer and architect. Now you are filling in for my mom today. I'm inspired again. Happy holidays to you in the upcoming weeks! I made a wreath once. I was living in Seattle on Lake Washington. There are tons of evergreens there. And I noticed that city vehicles were trimming them and just letting them fall to the ground--ungathered. I figured they probably did this for the citizenry. So, I gathered a bunch and made a wreath. Gave it to a friend! BTW: I usually start looking for Christmas stuff during the summer at tag sales! You can get them for a song at that point!
