This is weird... it's like most of what they say is justifiably explaining BELL's mistake, but the little tangent about Ross doing something wrong that prefaced all of that explanation took away from all of the insight that came after. TJ seems to be a bit more of the voice of reason here... If it wasn't Chastain there and it was... I don't know maybe Chase Briscoe. Exact same situation, NOBODY argues anything other than it being Bell's mistake.

I’m with TJ. Bell got impatient starting driving in his mirror and wrecked himself. You start blocking multiple times and you’re just asking for trouble. Once you’re committed to a line, the guy behind you doesn’t just magically disappear so if he gets a run and you as the driver ahead want to defend, you got to be aware of where the driver is or else your block could ruin your race like what happened to Bell

You’ve made your point with exactly the same mentality Ross would use to defend the move and that’s why you’ve completely missed the point. Every one of them said it was Bell’s fault, but clarified that there was no point in Ross making that move at that moment. They aren’t blaming Ross for the crash, they are simply making “Point 1.b” in that Ross doesn’t need to do that there, he waits a lap or even a corner and the pass is likely cleaner.

@@AgtWashingtub that’s an entirely different argument all together. A good one and I agree with you, but different, because Brett’s entire point was the risk Ross took that could have jeopardized his race and his car. In a vacuum, yeah Bell needs to know not to pull that, but in a week to week scenario, Ross needs to be careful putting his car on the line with poor decision making that could jeopardize his chances. I don’t for a second think Ross did that thinking he was teaching bell a lesson, but simple saw the gap and had to go.

This is so stupid. Ross went with his momentum. He had just pitted in the cycle and was trying to gain time on Hamlin and Bell. He had a run and he didn’t lift. How the hell are these clowns saying Ross had more to lose? You just said Bell had the fastest car and a better chance to win the race. How’s that not more to lose? Thankfully TJ at least tried to straighten these fools out. But y’all are gonna have to understand, Ross doing Ross things isn’t gonna change. People probably thought Earnhardt was gonna lighten up too but once these guys realize that roughing people up all the time wins trophies it’s not likely that they’ll change. It’s more likely that everyone else will just learn to get out of the way. When you look in the mirror and see the #1 car, just go ahead and move over before you ruin your own day. Heres where I see it (and of course I a nobody making a comment shouldnt be taken for granted) Chastain had the speed and was trying to make ground with his teammate close in tow. Chastain sees Bell blocking down to the bottom, his nose is clear barely, and holds his line. Chastain continues, letting his tires carry him up to the outside as Bell has just given that entire lane up to corner exit (right where you want to be at Michigan). At this point Bell does cause the incident as he squeezes Chastain towards the wall, Chastain, knowing if he gets pancaked that ruins his car, eventually holds left, defending that lane. Bell comes up across Chastains nose causing the wreck. I think that much we can all agree on. Where we get into conjecture is the levelheadedness of both drivers. Bell is defending, trying to slow down Chastain, knowing that he needs every advantage before that next stop. If he just holds his lane at the top and slows Chastain, thats fine, but he also throws a block against a wall. That doesnt work. Chastain (and Suarez) have the advantage here and while having far better pace on newer tires, trying to take advantage of that, pushes hard for a pass. Chastain, while in the right, screwed himself and the 99 out of possible win/podium contention by not checking up on the block. As a driver, yes, the lane was open and that was the right call to go for it, but you also have to be a strategist while driving, know your position and think of the end goal (with 45ish more laps to go). Both drivers made moves that they needed to, but both drivers also made egregious mistakes by not giving an inch. End of the day, its a racing situation that unfolded in a matter of seconds.

Years ago I raced formula cars. I learned who the mirror drivers were. They were easy to manipulate to my advantage when the situation presented itself. Concentrating on being faster is superior. Blocking is a distraction that ultimately limits your potential.

If this crash was Bell and anybody else. All of these dudes would be blaming Bell entirely. The bias against Ross is insane at this point. Bell left the preferred lane open, Ross took it on fresh tires and got to his quarter panel, Bell runs him completely up into the fence and wrecks himself. Like TJ said, you leave that top lane open, literally any driver on fresh tires would take it. Not just Ross

Flip the roles and say Chastain is in the 20 car (say it isn't a Toyota) and bell in the 1. Theyd still rip Chastain. If someone farts in the garage, they will blame Chastain. If the race isn't a sellout, blame Chastain. Smh

If that had been anyone else like Hamlin....it would be Bell caused him to wreck on purpose...but because it was Ross some how yall try to blame Ross for the wreck...

These guys either have never been behind the wheel or just clueless. Denny runs ross in the fence, and thats not "intentional" just fair racing apparently, now bell runs himself in the fence and they argue why Ross put his nose there. What an Idiot two weeks straight for the DBC guys lol i guess Ross should start waving everybody by like Mark Martin

@@BelowTheYellowLine im fine with denny intentionally paying ross back but anybody that thinks running Ross out of room and stuffing him in the fence isnt intentional is clueless and thats what DBC said. And then this take today makes me feel like sometimes theyre just lost and have no idea what driving is like

This podcast is getting stupid there is no reason to pin any part of this on Ross. Situational awareness excuse us by far the dumbest thing I've heard at least there was some brain cells on the left side of the room to try and get a better reasoning.

I put it on Bell too but TJ is wrong about not lifting. By not lifting Ross got exactly what Freddie said, they both ended up with a crappy finishing spot.

Pretty obvious from listening to these two clowns Brett Griffin and Freddie Craft , that they dislike Ross Chastain period!! Only reasonable talking head was TJ Majors. He flat out defended Ross Chastain. Kudos to TJ.....
