I have always loved this song. The sound of the instruments during the intro almost convey the feeling of a sailboat flowing through the water to me, and the middle instrumental feels like that boat is just gliding free on a beautiful sunny day!

Nice reaction A fun fact is that the beautiful intro was a total mistake where the the guitar and strings were recorded on separate tapes. When they started both tapes together the guitar track didn't start.... a total accident which won him a Grammy for best arrangement.

Christopher wrote this about a friendship he had when he was 15, and his friend 19...his friend would take him out sailing...and Chris said it "magical", in just the two of them of what felt like in a different world, experiencing it together...and a time in life with his buddy special like no other. Chris went YEARS he said before he ever mentioned what the song was really about...just two boys out on the vast ocean alone together. So it's not so "metaphorical", it actually happened. 💪💞⛵

He wrote a song called "Think of Laura" - about a dear friend who was killed in Columbus Ohio by a stray bullet in 1982. I was living in Columbus then and remember this story so well. He was dating her college roommate when he met her and commemorated the tragedy with that song. Great song with a sad inspiration. I think she was riding in a car - and a stray bullet from a gun battle a block or so away entered the car she was in and killed her. It was a shocking thing.

Heavenly song …beautiful voice & instrumental. ❤🙏 My dad loved to sail with his buddies. They each had a little sailboat by Phantom. They were similar to the more popular small Sunfish boats. He worked extremely hard his whole life & retired at 60. It was then that he purchased his dreamboat..a much bigger sailboat by Hunter. He had a 1 year old grandson that was his joy. Unfortunately, very unexpectedly, he got brain cancer. Glioblastoma Multiforme. The fastest growing. He passed within 9 months of diagnosis. While he was in hospice at the end he wanted to listen to this song nonstop on his headset. Sad beyond imagination for my family. 😢 A brilliant engineer, friend, father, husband, grandfather…and what a sailor he was!! ⛵️ 💨 Thanks for this reaction Saeed. ❤

FYI Jimmy Page had the first double guitar made for him so he could play Stairway to Heaven on tour. The song switches from acoustic to electric so quick that he didn’t have enough time to switch guitars. Also this was our song (my now wife and I) when we were dating in college. 44 years and it stands the test of time. Thanks for the memory.

Love CC. There are artists (and managers) who oppose reactions and will have them taken down...and then there's the likes of Mr Cross here, who once viewed a reaction to his song Ride Like The Wind and liked it enough he linked it off his social media and struck up an acquaintance with the reactor (Jamel Griffin)... Other CC to check out, Never Be The Same, Think Of Laura, Every Turn Of The World. There's a terrific pure-live version of the latter on KZbin. CC is still with us and tours occasionally. I remember when Christopher Cross's first album came out in 1979 & we all bought a copy. The whole album was good with one hit after another including "Sailing", "Ride Like The Wind", "Never Be The Same", "Say You'll Be Mine" etc. He won 5 Grammy Awards for it. In 1981 Cross released "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)" . The song won the Oscar for Best Original Song. He released a 2nd album in 1983 with a few hits on it such as "All Right", "No Time For Talk", & "Think Of Laura". But sadly after that his fame declined. Success came quickly, all at once & then suddenly faded. Too bad as he was very talented.
