I keep telling myself that there is nothing new under the sun, that there is not a stash of Hitchens videos waiting to be discovered… And then I find a couple now. Where are they coming from? Thank you, Great Benefactor!

The call-in part of this show, that happened at 5:30am:est, & 2:30:am:pt aren’t always produce those who are mentally stable. I’ve watched many of these C-Span call-in programs featuring Christopher Hitchens, & this was the weirdest.
@FreeRadical10158 жыл бұрын
I like listening to these call ins with Hitchens but it's hard and often cringeworthy to listen to the callers. You'd think people would be prepared before calling a national show. They get on the air and it's "uhmm, uh.... ummm ....". Get it together for goodness sake.

C-SPAN is known for these unique calls. I think they stem from similarly unique personalities which I would justify to at least two reasons. (1) To be a dedicated viewer of C-SPAN means to care about the political machinery quite deeply. Many unstable individuals can be described as such, notably those prey to paranoia. This type of caller would struggle with cohesively expressing himself. (2) C-SPAN may appear to be an outlet for expressing political or otherwise social concerns to these callers. The callers may rarely even watch C-SPAN but know it as such an outlet and therefore call in when their concerns are boiling over. This type of caller would speak in either a stream-of-consciousness or otherwise without structure as they are more so going through a masturbatory outburst.

The Host immediately felt the panic and his conditioning cut in. We're not allowed to question or implicate The Masters. Although Hitchens does not fall for this so easily, he seems to think Global Zionism is as pretend as religion is, a shame but as sharp as he is, he did clearly make a few bad calls and this was among one of them

Lost a LOT of respect for Hitchens in this video. Yes, Gorbachev deserves a lot of credit for letting the Eastern European client states of theirs leave. BUT none of it ever would have happened without the military and MORAL pressure Reagan fearlessly put on the Soviets. If Carter was still president, that wall would still be intact whether Hitchens wants to admit he was totally and unequivocally wrong or not...SHAME ON CHRISTOPHER! He was too small of a man to admit he was contemporaneously wrong on this issue...

Reagan had as much “moral” pressure on the Soviets as Bono did for ending hunger in Africa. Gorbachev had a long term plan and executed it transparently and fully almost to a schedule . Gorbachev believed in the Russian People more than he did the Communist party. The very deserved deep set black eye of all of Stalinism and Leninism were on display with the abysmal regard for its people wrt to Chernobyl and Afghanistan clinging to Russian dogma. US Military expediency didn’t change anything. Reagan knew it was the right time to try to take credit for something 20+ years in incubation. US/Russian Historians saw Glastnost and Perestroika as inevitable. That Reaganism was seen as putting any pressure is laughable.
