Sincerest thanks for sharing this wonderful video. Mr. Hitchens was not only an outstanding intellectual, but a kind gentleman, as his closest friends would attest. He will always be missed by all people who embrace free inquiry, freedom of speech, and logical, defensible, reasonable thought and all resulting questions. Go Hitch! 💚

I won't be saying that. He'll be forgotten like all losers. Hitch who pretends to know the bible as he screws up on it over and over again including what faith means biblically. --"Faith is the surrender of the mind, it's the surrender of reason, it's the surrender of the only thing that makes us different from other animals. It's our need to believe and to surrender our skepticism and our reason, our yearning to discard that and put all our trust or faith in someone or something, that is the sinister thing to me. ... Out of all the virtues, all the supposed virtues, faith must be the most overrated”-- Christopher Hitchens Now, look at what biblical faith really means that Hitch the liar didn't even look at: Biblically, faith means trust. It's a trust by evidence seen. God asks that we prove things. To reason. To get knowledge. To study. God has nothing to hide. We develop trust from what is seen, and that which is not seen yet is trusted also because of the trust built up from what is seen. It's much like a human relationship. We don't trust much until a person has gained that trust from what is observed. The difference is though, God is not limited to human powers. He created us. Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. crossexamined.org/biblical-faith-vs-blind-faith/ www.truthortradition.com/articles/what-does-the-bible-say-about-faith www.revisedenglishversion.com/Appendix/16/Faith_is_Trust www.truthortradition.com/articles/faith-a-confident-expectation-of-gods-promises-coming-to-pass www.truthortradition.com/articles/hebrews-1-11-and-faith Hitchens always went into evasive word antics to avoid key questions like how we got the creation of the universe. Real science says nothing does nothing. Real science says if there was something there already it must fit with the evidence of what we know. We know the 1LT says there's a conservation of energy. It can change forms and neither can be created or destroyed. Creation cannot happen by natural means. The 2LT has various aspects, one being the universe is winding down, entropy. Usable energy is becoming less usable, so at one point usable energy was at its max. This all points to a supernatural creation, by a supernatural creator at a certain point in which matter, space, and time were created. When I read how it can happen otherwise, ALL the fools resort to science-fiction. Once a supernatural creation is accepted, then the next step is finding proof of what supernatural power did it. We can't even get science without God. The laws of nature only can come from a Lawgiver, God. Life only comes from life. Law of biogenesis. God is the reason for us and all we have. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJqwoq2ElL6Gjrc The odds are NOT there. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWLCfHiMlqisl6M kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4icmJStr79_qc0

This wonderful piece had me almost in tears towards the end; tinged as it must be by the knowledge of what was to come. What an incomparable loss to humanity and to humanism. His tutelage over the years; too late for me to truly appreciate him in his lifetime, introduced me to the free thinkers. Paine, Spinoza, Jefferson, Harris et al. Such a loss. But he himself would not allow anyone to wallow in said loss. Revel instead. Revel in the joy and beauty facilitated by his thoughts and his writings. If I pass on one thing only to my children, it shall be The Hitch. And I shall have done my work.

You see? You have created a prophet - albeit of minuscule stature; misguided; and, short lived. It's not hard. What is hard is to be an orator that casts a message that lasts for hundreds of years or even rarer thousands of years. That requires more than just a spoiled, unruly, iconoclast.

@@joaquinmisajr.1215 "While granting there could be a “God”'" Was that somehow supposed to show you're not a loser, as if you have some sort of notion how you got around the evidence I gave? It may work with your fellow losers but not with me. "Not a lot of folks have accepted that mythical character Jesus because it’s obviously farcical, capitalizing on emotional blackmail." Again, all you have is bowel gas as your proof. It's what you losers have. ----"According to Marcus Borg, the following facts are agreed upon by most New Testament scholars: Jesus was born sometime just before 4 B.C. He grew up in Nazareth, a small village in Galilee, as part of the peasant class. Jesus’ father was a carpenter and he became one, too, meaning that they had likely lost their agricultural land at some point. Jesus was raised Jewish and he remained deeply Jewish all of his life. His intention was not to create a new religion. Rather, he saw himself as doing something within Judaism. He left Nazareth as an adult, met the prophet John and was baptized by John. During his baptism, Jesus likely experienced some sort of divine vision. Shortly afterwards, Jesus began his public preaching with the message that the world could be transformed into a “Kingdom of God.” He became a noted healer, teacher and prophet. More healing stories are told about Jesus than about any other figure in the Jewish tradition. He was executed by Roman imperial authority. His followers experienced him after his death. It is clear that they had visions of Jesus as they had known him during his historical life."---- from the article (that communist youtube won't let me list the site) --Did Jesus Exist? All Scholars Agree He “Certainly” Existed

Whether you agree or otherwise with anything he expresses, I cannot help but wonder whether such a well read, intelligent, engaging, eloquent, humorous and captivating public speaker of his calibre will ever be witnessed again. His legacy, influence, mastery of the the English language, and inspiration to free thinkers will continue on; a small crumb of solice for the 'early' loss of such a truly exceptional man, who would no doubt have had so much more to contribute to inquisitive minds. He is very sorely missed, but fondly remembered. Sincerely, thanks again 🙂

The last few minutes are pure gold. He doesnt just sign the books, he has some kind words and the typical Hitchens smirk for everyone. Although he already must have known he was very, very sick and maybe was already in pain.

He was a loser so wake the F up.

You really don't even have to agree with Hitchens to appreciate what a great intellect and sense of humor he had. He really believed that human beings should think for themselves and not just accept the indoctrination of the particular culture and society they happened to be born into. I will always watch these videos to remind myself of him. I wish I could have met him and had a conversation with him.

In every dicussion about the biggest global issues, like environmental destruction, the financial system, multinational & political corruption we NEED people like Christopher ! And not to forget : acting out accordingly. Not ónly talk. The direct consequence of that is: profound change of world systems and denouncing religion in general. But thats never gonna happen. The human condition is a death trap.
