Hogwood means balance and sophistication in Baroque Music. His approach to this Music changed the world about how to play it. Hogwood became the new Canon. A so elegant Baroque had never been heard before. The bunch of talents whose careers he launched remain among the best musicians the world enjoys nowadays. From Alison Bury to John Holloway or Catherine MacIntosh, from Christophe Rousset or Susan Sheppard, from Christophe Coin to Simon Standage, Hogwood worked with. I knew them all through him. Should say that Holloway playing violin with the difficult Schordatura method, or Christophe Coin playing Vivaldi's Sonatas in a 1/2 tone lower register owns it to the Hogwood Baroque studies⁉️ ➖Since heard the excellent L'oiseau Lyre Decca recordings, we all new what to buy in Baroque. Hogwood was a wonderful and demanding Conductor and harpsichordist in quest of perfection, in everything he went into. Am sure every Music Lover miss the brilliant Hogwood. People like him never dies. 🎵🎶💎👍

The English Concert was founded by harpsichordist Trevor Pinnock one year earlier, in 1972. The group is equally wonderful and Pinnock is still active.

Such a shame that the plug was pulled after only two thirds were recorded.

One could have enjoyed Beecham's Haydn with uncritical abandon Were it not for the strictures of H. C. Robbins-Landon
