Very noble. I subscribed on the strength of this. It's so typical of a politician to avoid the tough questions and seek out a puff piece. Thanks for not letting him get away with that.

Great chat and really interesting to hear the process in which you all worked through in order to land on the decision you have. I would also argue that you're not exceptionally good storytellers (sorry Di), but rather, you're both exceptionally good at facilitating conversation and therefore extracting good stories from your guests. That is where the magic of your abilities lie. Just my two cents. Keep it up.

The morning shift podcast did a similar thing with some of the party leaders and pulled it off quite well. They embraced the fact that Politics wasn’t their strength but still discussed policy whilst at the same time getting them to be more a lot personable than they usually are in the media.

Gosh - What an incredible opportunity to even be placed in a position to have to make that decision. A massive testament to where you are in your journey :)

You have 6.93k subs and had to think about it. When I hear terms like 'Robust' and 'Hold Space' we know where this is headed. You can have a politician on and stay apolitical. What you do is focus on the person, the business experience and not the politics. You dropped the ball on this one big time. As a business owner I'd love to hear about the CEO of Air New Zealand. I don't vote right but you cocked up. Duh...

Great choice, guys. Apart from peddling his politics, Luxon would have nothing to say of any real interest. He's become a populist and intrinsically boring

Good decision. The situation get messy because you then feel pressure to interview other parties to keep your subscribers happy and eventually you move away from what your show's really about.

not the right call - my two cents. You should have had him on. Its a great format to get to know people better in a relaxed environment. You could have had hipkins on also - I've never vote for him, but I'd be interested in listening to his story.

Poor decision. Always let people share POV. How are we supposed to learn new perspectives?

Pretty poor decision lads. The ability to talk to influential people and challenge them should be relished. Instead you’ve chosen the easy way out because of your lack of confidence to conduct an interview. You should back yourself, still love your content but a little disappointed 😢

Why? So we can hear hi say bullshit like "What I can tell you is..." "In all reality..." “take decisions” and “raise the energy” “You still have to chunk it down and actually execute components on it.” “We need to elevate up and say, ‘Well, what are the big rocks and the additive things that actually the other parties are bringing to our agenda?” “We are looking ahead to actually deliver a set of deliverables that will help our vision of New Zealand to take root and come to pass.” “We are operationalising our government.” “We’ve got to focus on what our core competency is and what our advantages are and what we can actually do to help.” “The coalition government will make decisions that are… results-driven. Interventions that aren’t delivering results will be stopped.” “A big part of that is to know whether you’re actually benchmarking your performance and knowing whether you are or are not hitting the mark and doing the right thing.” and other wank words he says instead of answering any direct question. I think you should get Chippy on and get him to explain how Labour will change things for the better, because National are so status quo that they're using gang crime, youth crime, race relations and blaming the previous government to distract everyone from the reality that life is getting harder and more expensive while social services are being taken away so Luxon and his ilk can feed their greed and self-entitlement - which he is unashamedly proud of, just look at his accommodation supplement debacle.
