I'm sorry to correct the mistake about Marlowe's first play, because his first play was actually Tamburlain (1590) and The Queen of Carthage,Tragedy of Dido was actually in collaboration with Nashe in 1594. Thank you.

Marlowe is my favorite playwright, better than Shakespeare. I wonder if he would be the "runner up" if he was not killed in the tavern brawl. Also I wonder what other plays he might have written.

Special Effects Horror ? Can you imagine Dr Faustus being played to an illiterate Elizabethan audience ..the demonic stage set...the gunpowder flash and a real demon appears on stage and torments a well drunk audience. It must have been mayhem !! Bit like a Frankie Boyle gig.
