Thank you. I never could work with metallics, but watched this video yesterday and it made all the difference. I don't have the thread stand, but use my normal horizontal pin, then route the thread through a loop that keeps the thread running off the stand in a straight direction instead of off the end, changed my tension and needle, and did a complicated sample with NO thread breakages or problems. Thank you thank you thank you.

Thank you Sir! I appreciate every word you said. I am reading and studying all aspects of sewing so that I can succeed. When I read my machine manual from cover to cover, I realised that most people read it randomly. I purchased most of the Singer Sewing Library books and the best sewing guides from the vintage (Singer, Vogue Reader's Digest etc.., because they knew the best methods, and also the late Nancy Zieman who I can not get enough of. I will do exactly as you have taught and I realise that it takes hard work to be an excellent seamstress and fashion designer. You are a Real Motivator and Wise Sewing Teacher. I can not wait to start the Bobbin Work and Embroidery. You helped me sew much! I am a True Blue Singer Fan and My grandmothers taught me sewing basics, but we have to make our own way and like you said we have to work hard and work smart without causing ourselves physical pain.

God Bless you for this video! I have started using this tread 6 months ago, because I work with leather. you have to be open When I first started using the metallic thread in all color I had become elated about topstitching my pillows curtains etc. My thread us to break so often and would cause me to get very frustrated. I now have an expert such as yourself to show me a better way to do things. I am all for learning. So what, that I have been sewing for years. I appreciate your time and patience. The video is wonderful!! Once again thank you Chris and you can teach a old dog new tricks but you have to be willing to learn them!!

Ohhhh Goodness! Praise the Lord!!!! I had no idea anyone like you were on here showing these types of video's!!! Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge! In the last 20 years I've had 2. A Singer and a Brother. This last one I purchased was on Clearance, Brother Project Runway CS1125PRW. It's a beauty and sees soooo beautiful! I too have had to self teach and I have to agree with ALL you've said. There's some out there, that I go into a Hobby Lobby looking for good thread and the lady behind the cutting counter will ask me what type of machine i have, what am I making, da da da everything except is that your natural hair color!!!! And I'm just like " would ya please just do the cut and let me be on my way". I started out because I wanted to so grandma stuff 🙄 well they grew up and grandma's and grandpa's don't seem to matter anymore. So I said I'll start quilting and donate to the children of our church. We have some that come from other area's and they don't have a lot, grandparents are having to raise them cause parents are in jail or worse. So I've done quite a few of those and they absolutely loved them! But I didn't want them to know it was me, I don't like being in the spotlight. Later, as my church is heavily involved with a homeless shelter in Atlanta, GA I started making winter hats, crocheted scarf and hats with some sewing of applique's. Completely donated. I felt I was giving back. I'm still doing it, just waiting on the virus to hopefully clear, but have had them sent when we couldn't make it because of the protests and marches. So now.....I'm wanting to actually make something for myself. I think they're called pellotti pants? I can't read a pattern, I can read but just don't understand it. And you have simplified everything that everybody else has made difficult! So thank you again! I am now a SUBSCRIBER for sure! God Bless!

I love this thread stand, wish I had discovered this years ago, well worth the cost! I am able to use the large, really large cones on the smaller stand by simply putting a large diameter straw over the rod and a cone adapter thingy to stablize the bottom of the thread. Not sure what you call those cone adapters but they are plastic with a cone shape bottom.

OMG Christopher can I adopt you!!!??? Finally a NO NONSENSE approach to free machine embroidery and (bonus) with metallic thread!! Have just seen your free motion machine embroidery part 1 and can't wait for the next instalment (when?) I have a small home business but also use a Husqvarna sewing/embroidery machine and am loving what I can now do with what I have learned from you! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! XXX Would love to show you the results of a dress I am making for my daughter.... ???Have a question???... when I embroider with mostly sulky threads I usually use a thread net over the cotton as if I don't it unwinds and gets caught up, is this because it is laying horizontally in the standard setup, should I set up the spool vertically??? PLEASE HELP! LOVE YOUR VIDS PLEASE DO MORE... PS If I'm ever in New York I will definitely visit Thank you again. Carmela (English Mummy in Sydney Australia) xxxx :) :) :)

I use prewound bobbins of embroidery bobbin thread. I finally have had so much trouble with thread fraying and breaking as well as coming unthreaded that I have just about quit sewing then I saw this video again and started thinking about trying again. I paid over $8000.00 for that machine and I would like to be able to use it. The owner worked on it several times but it still gives me trouble. I use the correct needles and I can't figure it out,

I wound different threads on new Janome bobbins including superior thread bottom line and So fine ( I love so fine as a bobbin thread on long arm my baby lock and my embroidery machines) and Madera classic. Check with your machines dealer you may need a different bobbin holder or the pre wounds are the wring bobbins. And watch for a KZbin video of your machine. I hope this helps.

Hi, I did find another of his videos where he does quilt a larger piece of fabric and shows how he does it...it's still a more manageable size, not like a full quilt, but his technique is great and something to think about, no stressing on our shoulders, etc. See if you can find it, he has bright yellow fabric in the screen shot. I also think he sent me a link to that video as his answer.
