Saw him play at Denison University on 10/25/1987. He was fantastic actually. Lots of rumors in the guitar community about him playing poorly at some venues, and recording engineers from some of his albums have said he spliced some of his performances. Whatever, he was my childhood hero and I still think his early recordings are some of the best ever especially when he played on his old Ramirez, 1964/5? We are slowly losing the greats: Julian Bream is gone, JW is 81, Pepe R. is 79, CP is 75 yo and even Manuel Barrueco has hit 70! While there is a ton of talent out there today [some are beyond technical genius!] these few are the foundation for today's guitarists. Guess I'm getting old too.

To my knowledge, splicing is common practice of even the greatest players, past or present.

He is so much better than Segovia ever was. Parkening is the best ever.

Parkening sounds like a young Segovia. He has always been an imitator of the Segovia sound. He learned very well from The Romero family and masterclasses with Segovia.

ソルの魔笛の主題による変奏曲、なんかピンと来ない演奏だな。

His is better than all the bland recordings that exist 👌
