Civilization 5's theme is really good, but it doesn't capture the essence of humanity as Baba Yetu and Sogno di Volare do. The way Tin captures cooperation, community, compassion, greatness, and man's constant struggle to be great with music is extraordinary, it is truly remarkable and wondrous. You are, without a doubt, my favorite composer. Never stop, Christopher.

@@likit7994 Yes! Combine Baba Yetu and Sogno di Volare into a single hybrid anthem! (Like South Africa) Just think of it.... Baba Yetu represents humanity's spiritual side, our creative, irrational, emotional, and human connection. Humanity's Grace and sense of wonder down on Earth. Our artistic, religious, and ethical side. Sung in kiSwahili, an african Bantu language, with kalimba with drums. It'll contrast and compliment Sogno di Volare perfectly. The rational, glorious side of humanity. Our dreams and aspirations for advancing higher, beyond the stars themselves. It'll represent humanity's exploration and expanding the frontier. Our experimentation and knowledge. Played with classical violins, and sung in Italian. Together, they will make the anthem of the human species, and the entire world!

Christopher, I don't know if you'll ever get to read this but I'll leave it here for the aliens or the future A.I. to find. Christopher Tin, you are one of the great bridgebuilders of our time. Connecting videogames to reality, letters to music, prayers to song, the bridges you build allow a flow of admiration and affection to connect with aspects of our modern lives that would otherwise be quite separate and insulated. It was very emotional for me to see so many videos of Africans singing Baba Yetu. Entire villages sometimes. A song that was "just" an inspiring main menu banger for me, but it had such visible impact on others. To this day, I go on an hours long Baba Yetu sidetrack on youtube sometimes. And with Sogno di Volare, the dreams and fantasy of a genius long ago. The lyrics are hopeful, longing but the music crecendos in what I can only describe as a reveal of success, a dream fulfilled. The singers recite the dreams of old but the musicians reveal our human capacity for success. So a bridge not only between letter and music but within that same piece, a bridge between the times. We can't always see the bridges you build but we travel them nonetheless and they nurture us. Inspire us. Thank you.

I honestly can't compare Sogno di Volare to Baba Yetu, as they are so vastly different, but both are my favourites! While Baba Yetu relays the message of understanding, like "we're all so different, but are united by so many things we share", thus giving us the idea of peace and cross-cultural communication, Sogno di Volare treats the humanity as a whole, with all our dreams and aspirations, challenges and endeavors, frontiers and discoveries, our desire for exploration and thirst for knowledge, and both songs relay their messages brilliantly.
@likit79946 жыл бұрын
You are quite right but actually that's why I would think they are similar in the sense that it's all about people, about each and everyone of us, be it in the past, current and future. This is why Sir Christopher Tin's compositions are touching all of us in heart. I feel that these 2 particular masterpieces being the theme songs of the Civilization make such feeling even stronger.

A truly inspiring and uplifting piece of music. We are constantly surrounded by bad news and struggles; It can be impossibly difficult to see the light when surrounded by darkness. Sometimes, though, something comes along to help you realize that we can be beautiful, too. We can create works that move our very souls; In them we can see a future where the horrors of our past are nothing but a memory. That is what this piece of music does for me, and I will be grateful every day that there are people like Christopher Tin to guide us to the flicker of light in the blackness, so that we may not lose hope in our tumultuous modern world. Thank you, Christopher.

From the first stirrings of life beneath water, to the great beasts of the Stone Age, to man taking his first upright steps, you have come far. Now comes your greasiest quest, from this early cradle of civilisation on towards the stars.

I long gave up on mankind. Abandoning all hope for better and brighter future due all things that happening. But your music Mr. Tin gave me strenght to believe. It brings hope that one day mankind will transcend this foolish and childish behavior it currently have and gaze its eyes toward stars as one unified species, as we should be, not bound by borders, religions and nationalities. One strong species. Whenever i listen this song i imagine ark ships leaving Earth for better future!!. Thank you for your masterpiece. It gaves me strenght to believe in good in mankind once again.

Still amazing man made it to the moon AND back. Going to space is one thing, but Alive to tell the tale? Or air travel actually being a normal occurrence is crazy. Engineering is awesome.
