Our rosemary (two varieties) thrives outdoors here, and winters drop below zero celcius fairly regularly. They're located on north facing wall (we're in Southern Hemisphere), in full sun, and with overhead frost shelter from house eaves. Plants are 1.5m tall X 1.5m wide, and very healthy. Rosemary doesn't mind a moderate winter if they're planted in protected place and get lots of sun.

So fascinating! I remember watching someone in Nebraska doing this a while back and was so curious about how the whole thing worked. It's cool how your background in technology was utilized to help with your hobby of growing. Very cool!

Gardening and tech is such a fun combination! There is so many things to try. And I like to try as much as possible. :-)

If the temp doesn't go below -5° in the coldest months you can consider planting some citruses. There are many varieties of oranges and tangerines that are grafted to roots that keep them compact and you can choose from the more exotic varieties such as blood oranges etc.

You should have hooked up a liquid underground heating system.... And hooked it up to a wood stove to keep it warm all winter! And then maybe figure out how to keep the greenhouse lights on 😂😜

Good video You are very inspiring thanks again and God bless. Oh yeah did I mention wow.

I find this whole thing fascinating. I am not a technical thinker, but it is great to see how well this is working for you. Last summer was a learning year. This summer you seem to have it a lot more figured out. The water set up will make it just that much better.

In Victorian times, the large country houses had hot houses and green houses to grow crops, they used to whitewash the windows in summertimes to protect the plants. It washes off in the autumn. I remember my elderly neighbour doing the same to his greenhouse when I was a kid in the UK. He was a gardener for the city council.

Don´t worry rosemary and figs are quite hardy, here in east germany we had -17 C° this winter and both the rosemary and figs are fine outside, so they will probably be fine in a greenhouse in norway too. All rosemary varities can tollerate at least -10 C°, some very hary varieties like 'Veitshöchsheim' and 'Arp' can tollerate below -20, with the fig should also be able to tollerate -10, if its a 'Ronde de Bordeaux' it can tollerate up to -20 C° and a 'Brown Turkey' it can tollerate up to -17 C° (thats the variety i have).

Thank you for share your system. That a very great setup. My background is an Electronics Engineer and interested in Gardening. My plot is far away from my house and I can go to my plot during the weekend only. So, I have to install sensors and Microcontrollers (ESP32) in my Garden for remote monitoring and controlling the watering, fertilizer feeding system and etc.

Add aluminum (aluminum Coated insulation) Reflecting sun light from northern side. This will block heat from escaping the cool side allowing the added heat to be stored under ground.

Nice job. If you take those greenhouse panels off the ends, back and back half of the roof, replace with insulated opaque panels, you’d gain better thermal protection in the winter and shading in the summer. Also, those panels you removed can be used with additional framing to create another greenhouse maybe up against a building or even up against this greenhouse. :)

do you have a link for the fans? Can you switch the fans direction so during the day send the hot air down inside the ground and during the night pull in the air from the ground?
@JohnGuest454 жыл бұрын
John, you dont need to change the fan direction for that.

Christopher, just to help you out: Please next time make your video shorter and do the presentations faster, and show more of the greenhouse. You could have divided this video in 10 shorter ones, with a title about the each subject you are addressing. This way you hold people's attention and interest more. Try it and you'll see, believe me my friend. Thank you for sharing your greenhouse experience. Looking forward to the next one. Peace out bro! Joseph
