@kvargas1154 жыл бұрын
Why’s that?
@nunyabusiness49044 жыл бұрын
@@kvargas115 because usually it's not a good idea for them to get married, often times it's a marriage to their high school sweetheart that they've never actually lived with, a random person they met in the area and have only known for a few months or someone else who lives in the barracks and they are rushing into marriage specifically to get out of the dorms, all of these marriages have a generally poor track record and often fail and end in divorce, naturally people in unhappy marriages generally have issues in other aspects of their lives, they be dealing with depression which directly affects mission readiness, mission effectiveness and other aspects, supervisors, first sergeants, commanders, etc. all need their troops to be mentally and physically ready and if a soldier isn't at their best it affects the whole unit.

When I was in Korea in 90-91 it was considered an unaccompanied tour, but there were some exceptions. My squad leader was married to a Korean national and she had family close to the base so that's where they stayed. Another squad leader in our platoon had dual Korean-American citizenship. He was ethnically Korean but joined the US Army and served most of his service in Korea so he was able to live off post with his Korean wife on an E-6 salary which at the time meant he lived like a king. We also had a PFC who was allowed to bring his wife but the Army gave him very little help to do it. He basically had to fund her stay from his pocket and was always having money problems.

I had no idea how hard this was going to be when I re-elected to re-unite with military personnel service. I don't even know what either of our pay grade is going to be when we get married, and I graduate from school. I'm Vocation rehabilitation after a major car accident 5 years ago. We aren't even sure what he wants to study when he does finally decide to go to school, if ever, because he is really laid back, compared to me. I just hope that we can go together. What ever we do. My Dad used to say, "we move as a unit! We are a unit! Let's bug out!" I'm the oldest, and the only female trained by my Dad's troop buddies in Mitchell SD. I'm just grateful to be a small part of what the Army does. God bless you all! Still praying for peace in this world 🙏!

They felt mass punishment for single soldiers was the right way to keep the barracks clean while they escaped said punishment. If you have a family emergency while on a deployment (such as family death). How much leave time do you get? My cousin tried to get some off time when my grandmother died of Alzheimer’s. They wouldn’t let him attend the funeral. It was a horrible decision on the Army’s part Because we needed extra help during that time and his MOS was medical related which could have been beneficial for our family.

I believe it’s still 15 days and during the deployment they restrict it to direct family such as mother, father, brother, sister, spouse and those kinda situations. That also depends on the unit as well and if they are willing to let individuals go for other family members.

So it was sometime around 2013 I think that they stopped doing what was called Geographical bachelor which would allow you to live in the barracks while your family was back home. So now if you are married you will not be allowed to live in the barracks and must live off base and receive BAH or on base in housing but they will keep you BAH. However you receive the BAH rate for where you are and will need to use that to cover your rent and do not receive extra BAH because your family also has rent to pay back home. Just the one rate.

@@christopherchaos Ohhh I see. Ok thank you so much Chris I wish they still did that. That would help out the family alot. I would live in a trash can for the family to receive my bah lol

**hey Chris please answer** Shipping out Jan 13th. I’m a single father with a child. Can I qualify for bah? And what are the best steps in receiving bah for my situation? Thanks and keep making the videos! 👍🏼
@christopherchaos4 жыл бұрын
Active duty does not get BAH for having a child and not married unless it happened while in the Army. Can’t join if you have primary custody of a child. Only reserves or national guard can and then BAH is only a small amount while on drill.
@deviss422 жыл бұрын
does the baby thing only work for active or what about reserves? my spouse and i have been talking about it and im joining the reserves and we know its free medical for having a baby in active but how much would it cost in the reserves? probably a dumb question but yeah

Could we live off post as a single with no kids? Like if I room up with a friend or relative if I happen to know someone or choose to find an apartment in San Antonio for example? Haven't had a chance to watch the whole video, i'm on my lunch break.

Hey Chris I’m leaving for Basic Feb 16th and I’m married but my wife is not going to be moving with me to my duty station when I get done with Basic and AIT. Is there anyway I can still receive BAH to pay for my mortgage in Las Vegas?
@christopherchaos3 жыл бұрын
You will get BAH for where you are stationed. You can use that for your house but be aware you will also have to pay rent for an apartment as you will not be allowed to live in the barracks because you are married even if your spouse is not living with you. So it will be up to you to be able to pay your mortgage back in Vegas and your rent where you are stationed.

If he is already in then he can already get housing if he has a child with you and already should get the extra money. If he is wanting to join then he can't join unless he is married to you or gives up all of his rights to the child unless he is doing reserves or national guard.

If a single soldier has kids does he/she have to have full custody of the child to live in a house and not at the barracks
@christopherchaos5 жыл бұрын
in many cases they are really strict on even allowing a single parent to join. I often hear they must give up custody to the other parent or a guardian and will then be placed in the barracks without BAH or BAS but that is not always the case. Just depends.
