I had a friend, who unfortunately, also has passed from this life. The ironic thing is that she actually got to meet Dudley Moore; I saw the pictures. It was spot on! Phasia said he was a very down-to-earth man & my friend had a very on & off again relationship with her father. She was a child star in his movie, Micki & Maude. There was a picture of him helping her with her lines, I believe. It was a very sweet picture and very caring. A lot of ppl would look at the picture today and just assume that he was being inappropriate. Phasia would have told them that he wasn't being at all inappropriate. If anything, poor little Phasia got a little frustrated being told to do one thing from the Asst. Director & then told to do something totally different from Blake Edwards. Poor Mr. Edwards got a backlash from a frustrated child star. Phasia's mother was so embarrassed watching her young daughter go the heck off on Blake Edwards, a very well-known director back in the day & Julie Andrews' late husband! Only Phasia!

@@TheKonga88Are you sure? I've just Googled and found a different account. Of course I don't know if that's true either!: According to Peter Allen, he came up with the line when his plane got stuck in a holding pattern waiting to land at JFK airport in New York. In 2012, Songfacts heard from the flight attendant Susan Lina, who said, "Peter Allen was on my flight and when he was deplaning he said to me, 'You have inspired me to write a song, and you will know it when you hear it.' I believe this was the song, because we were in a holding pattern for JFK. I have been a flight attendant now for 34 years. This was back in the early '80s when I was only 21 or 22 years old. I did not know who he was until he was deplaning the aircraft. He was right, I did know the moment I heard the verse, when you get caught between the moon and New York City, because it was at night and we were in a holding pattern to land at JFK. Awww Dudley Moore looks so cute and shy and trying not to smile, but he did at the end. A great performance.

42 years later, and I’m JUST discovering Dudley Moore can play piano!!? And play piano to the theme song of his hit movie!!?😮. Anyway, I miss you, old school New York 😔 And I miss all the family members and friends who passed, throughout this 42 year journey.

He was a wonderful jazz and classical pianist. I loved it when he played piano in the movies he was in. Also, he did a great guest appearance at the Hollywood Bowl in an all-Gershwin concert. His segments are wonderful. It's on YT.

I love this song, Dudley was one of the best pianists in the world and it was so beautiful to see Dudley and Christopher perform together. I had a crush on this guy in my apartment complex, he was like Dudley’s twin but I could only quietly say hi.

I would so love to see Christopher Cross in concert. I was fortunate to see Dudley Moore perform at the Royal Albert Hall. He was loved in the UK as a great comedian, and many may not know what a fine pianist he was also. Not only but also. ❤ A lovely video.
