I sure wish they would eliminate the electronic aperture control and make the lens 100% manual. The lens would have less to break and be cheaper to produce and sell.

I want auto focus, manual aperture. This is exactly wrong lol.

Brighten Star 9mm seem to have better image quality, is it better to just get that lens or Laowa autofocus 10mm or there is reason to get this 15mm f5 too?
@Dewabarasunderan27 күн бұрын
@@TheMetalButcher I'd you need af at 15mm f5 you need to step away from the computer and go out shooting more.😅

Christopher, would you ever consider testing mobile phone lenses? I’d be curious to see how mobile phone lenses stand up to your testing. Thanks for your consideration.

So this cost 50% more then the autofocus RF 16 2.8 STM, which is also almost two stops brighter? I don't see it really useful on Canon RF...

Why a lot people seem forgot there is another similar lens Voigtlander 15z f4.5 which is small too and no one compare these 2 lenses?

Brighten Star 9mm seem to have better image quality, is it better to just get that lens or Laowa autofocus 10mm or there is reason to get this 15mm f5 too? I plan to get 28-400mm and 14-30mm for Zf and this kind of manual lens do mor efun to pair with the Zf, i not sure which to get anymore now

I can't believe I'm saying this but there is a lens I couldn't find your review on. The TTartisan 500mm. I would really like to know how it compares, I have a weird suspicion that it's very good, so good that people who haven't used it are putting it down in fear that it might be comparable to the Sigma 500mm for example (it terms of image quality only)
@hahano7205Ай бұрын
The TTArtisan 500mm is basically a cheap telescope with a camera mount on it, much like the $50 "800mm" lenses that tend to crop up on Craigslist/etc . Not worth much at all and certainly not on par with the Sigma 500/5.6.
@H2o3G2aАй бұрын
@@hahano7205 Funny you say this, I just got done comparing both head-to-head for the weekend and I was spot on, the ttartisan is almost the exact same sharpness (except for the corners) with better rendering overall. I couldn't care less about what anyone has to say, I've seen it myself. I'm getting the Nikkor 600mm f6.3 for next week to test it as well. I'd suggest you do that to before talking shit about something you haven't tested.

I was curious about the next laowa lens after they started making autofocus lenses, but this one is disappointing. I think they can do better. A 65mm f2.8 macro with autofocus (Apsc) would be a nice challenge.

400 USD for an f/5 lens? oof!!!
@justusgovaertАй бұрын
This is really a great lens for only 400 usd $. But I guess 500 usd$ to get less of all of those disadvantages and maybe even a slightly better aperture would be nice. But if you something like that you always want to go up slightly in price and in quality 😬😅. But how good does it perform on Aps-c cameras? Maybe you have less of those Corner problemens because you get closer to the middle of the image
@larsltjАй бұрын
Awesome lens, size is king. Perfect travel companion!
@dima1353Ай бұрын
It's an interesting concept, but also a good illustration of how fast lenses don't necessarily exist to shoot at maximum aperture. f/8 on a miniature f/5 lens and f/8 on a large f/2.8 lens are two different things. You need some optical "mass" to get a nice, smooth image at f/8 and f/11, and this lens clearly lacks that "mass". Still, Laowa did a good job here and the idea of a small wide-angle lens definitely makes sense.
