Sorry to say this, but the jelly is still on the Mini 7. Unfortunately, since you work with Apple and hide the cons from the iPad, you’re no longer my value, honest reviewer anymore, as you just played it safe to be on Apple’s good side. 😞

I’m trying to really understand this jelly scrolling thing. I ordered the new iPad mini will be here tomorrow. I’m upgrading from the 5 and I watched videos about it . And my conclusion is that no one uses their iPad that way who is scrolling super fast to see information on the screen? No normal person uses it that way. If you are reading something on the screen you are scrolling slowly to read it. Man some many KZbinrs has blown it out of proportion it not a big deal maybe if you are one of those speed readers 😅

This is why your channel is one of the best Apple centric channels around, Christopher. For one, you didn’t jump on the “this upgrade sucks bandwagon” when the Mini 7 was announced. Two, you took the time to demonstrate that the jelly scrolling was fixed. And three, you stated “this may not be the iPad that everyone needs.” I use my 12.9 Pro for daily work, but love my Mini for emails, text, media consumption, taking notes, etc. Since I have the Mini 6 and it serves my needs just fine, I won’t upgrade right away. Keep up the good work!

I’ve been using iPad minis since the first one. When the first iPad Pro came out in 2015, I really fell in love with the iPad mini as my second device. I’m a historian and writer, and I love the iPad mini as my reading and research device. I travel a lot around the world, so I love having this little device for reading epubs, Kindle books, or PDFs. I even have a little portable bluetooth keyboard for a quick and light writing machine.

So, over the weekend, I went into the local Apple store with the express intent of upgrading my iPad Mini 6 to 7. I was upgrading because I knew what it was going to cost me with the trade in and I wanted the ability to play AAA games on it (primarily Resident Evil). I also liked the idea of double the storage and RAM (though frankly, my 6 never gave me any problems). I was a bit surprised and impressed that when I showed the store clerk my Mini 6, and he realized that it was in near perfect condition, he tried to talk me out of upgrading. He emphasized the minor changes to the new machine and how my existing solution did not appear to need replacing. I explained my reasons and we went ahead with the transaction. I was impressed. I'm a recent Apple convert and every time I interact with someone from Apple, I become more impressed with the company. My only complaint? Nobody told me that my V2 Pencil would no longer work (and I didn't see that in any of the YT videos I had watched). It would not have changed my decision but I would have liked to know up front.
@on9luddite3 ай бұрын
I use the mini 6 almost on a daily basis for work. I go out and talk to people a lot, not wanting to carry notebooks around anymore but still preferring to write things down instead of typing (feel a bit more personal), I use the mini and pencil 2 a lot. That why I'm quite disappointed that now, if I do want to get the mini 7, I have to spend money regardless on either a worst pen (USB-C) or a pen that's just as expensive as the one I have that's still perfectly fine. So ya, a lot of note taking with the pencil, organising my notes, basic emailing, reading and simple doodling as stress relief. I'm such an avid user of the mini that this update feels super underwhelming because it really is the bare minimum that apple could have done...

I owned the Mini 6 and could see it right away, but over time you sorta forget about it and don't notice it unless you look for it. Though I don't think the issue has been "fixed", I imagine that the new Mini's improvement will just make it a bit more unnoticeable in person.

Still using the previous gen and will likely not upgrade to the new one. What I use it for are: at home, reading, trip planning and when on trips, I also use it for reading books, transferring/reviewing video files from my GoPro (using a USB-C hub with a microSD slot), browsing the web/maps for nearby places and information, along watching KZbin videos or streaming services (it's even better if the TV at your accomodation supports screen mirroring/AirPlay). Now, of course my iPhone could do these also, but I don't want to stress the battery too hard in it with such tasks and obviously the bigger screen of the iPad Mini is just perfect for what I listed above.

So I sent the device back. So now I’ll probably get one as I use the bus to go in and out of work (an hour each way) to read newspapers, books and sort my emails. Think I’ll save the money and get the basic one as we have the Apple Premium family account with 2TB of storage. The mini will also be useful for checking photos from pro cameras in the field, where even an iPhone Pro Max is too small to check focus and exposure. Can it do Apple Sing connected to an external display as I use that for my choir?

iPad Mini 6 or 7 : Is it worth paying the extra for the 7? How about the Lenovo Legion y700 instead?

For software updates, longevity and Apple`s good support, I would pick the iPad. Maybe high quality apps for video editing or some other productivity apps could be better on the iPad. For Emulation/Gaming and Media playback (watching a lot of KZbin videos etc.) I would pick the Lenovo. (smaller black bars because of the aspect ratio and maybe better speakers) Some people really notice the 144?hz of the Y700 a lot- then you must buy it. I would pay a good amount more for the iPad mini 7 instead of the 6, especially because of the 8GB Ram? and the 128GB of storage. The device will probably last a few years longer.(smoothly)

Given that Stage Manager and proper extended displays is missing from this, I’d argue that this also means that there will never be a clamshell mode on the iPad as Apple does not consider the iPad as a highly mobile portable computer solution that one just plugs into a monitor and uses with a BT Keyboard and mouse. If they did, they would have enabled this on this device.What a shame.

Samsung’s doing 90Hz on their S9 FE midrange tablet, and it’s cheaper than the Mini and the same price as the regular iPad 10. If you think people are asking for ‘Pro’ features and this isn’t that, then how do you justify the price of the Mini compared to the standard iPad?
