Loved finding this. After years of lusting after an embroidery machine, I am buying a Janome 9000 this morning. I know it isn't the latest and greatest but it is what I can afford on my senior pension. Squeee!

I’ve had this machine since it first came out. I have a project where I need to scan the design I want to embroider and I can’t do that on my very expensive Pfaff without buying a very expensive computer program. So, I scanned it onto a Janome memory card, but I needed a refresher on how to use the embroiderer. Went on KZbin and found you! For which I’m profoundly grateful. Thank you in advance because if this turns out well I will have a very happy hubby!

Any hoop for the following models will work- MC 9500, MC 300E, MC 350, Bernina DECO 330 and 340, and the older Elna 8200, and Kenmore Ergo Elite models. All these models were made by Janome. Good luck!!!!

I’ve got this wonderful machine, along with the Scanner and Customiser software plus card reader, as well as multiple hoops and cards and the wool embroidery kit you mentioned. I’m just starting to learn how to use it, we’ve got the card reader attached to the PC, and I created, transferred, and stitched out a design. Such a feeling of accomplishment! Thanks for the video, it’s a great starting place.

Hi Christopher I have an Elna 9006 I got it 24 or25 years ago it was made before Jerome bought out Elna sewing machines, and my cloth setter is right on center . It has sewed miles and still working well, a real work horse. Best money I ever spent.

I went to the three Janome dealers in my city and they could not help me with anything regarding this machine or the 8000 coz these machines are very old and the people who works there are not that old to know these models. The only thing the dealers can do is to do some repairs, and that's it. So I went to the Janome web site, and on the Retired Machine's section, got the manual for mine, and read it, and that is how I learned mine. On many machines from all the different brands, it is very difficult to find someone who remembers the older models. I went to a Bernina dealer asking for embroidery accessories for my B830 LE model, and the seller after checking in her computer told me that model didn't do any embroidery, so could not sell anything to me. She was a 31 year old lady, and the owner that was there told her she would help me, and showed her employee my machine was the precursor of the Bernina B 880 just discontinued in May 2024. So this thing of going to the dealer and ask for older machines is not very helpful at times coz not everyone knows about them. And anyway, my MC 9000 died on me, the touchscreen stop working.........

very helpful, I see this machine listed for an estate sale Friday along with other brand embroidery machines (singer quantum xl1000, brother pc 8200) and sergers. This has been the best video across the brands. I want a 2020 embroidery machine, but I decided to dip my toe in those waters with these older models. I hope I can score a great deal.

Thank you for the informative video. I've been looking for and having trouble finding information on the largest size lettering this machine will do do you happen to know how many inches the largest lettering is?
@bobbinsew3 жыл бұрын
The embroidery area is 4x4 inches or 100mm x 100mm, so if you have the right software and hardware ( see my reply to Dani) you can stitch out a letter up to that size. Going further if you have a program such as Embrilliance Enthusiast you can split the letter into parts and make it as big as you want so long as you are accurate when multi hooping. Edited to add: I’ve just looked at the manual and the lettering in the machine memory can be stitched out at about 1inch high,

I am not sure how to center my embroidery. My instruction manual says to use Card 102 and pattern 47 and then when you press OK it makes a stitch and then you go on to the pattern you want to embroider. However, I do not get the stitch and when I put in the pattern, it reverts to the start point for that pattern. Can anyone help me out. I bought the machine used and I don't have a local Janome dealer.

Hi Christopher, I just found you and I am trying to figure out my Janome 9000. I have got the embroidery down so far but the letters it is only letting me do 5 letters in med size, I hope this makes sense? Also the quilting part I am not sure either please help. I bought this from my Mother in law but she doesn't rember. I have had it for 4 years and am just starting because I was unsure and worried I knock the timing out. Thank you

Do you use embroidery thread for the Bobbin?
@bobbinsew3 жыл бұрын
Not normally, you use a very fine 60 or 90 wt bobbin thread. If you want to do free standing lace however you will need to use the same colour top and bottom, and thread suppliers now make some of their embroidery threads in matching bobbin weight.

Do you know if I can embroider my own designs?
@bobbinsew3 жыл бұрын
Yes you can, BUT, you need to get the Customiser 2000 software plus card reader package to use on your PC. Amazing designs also made a card reader for this machine. They can only be bought secondhand now so watch out for them on EBay etc. I download embroidery files from the websites that sell them in the .sew file format which this machine can read. I then use a package called Embrilliance to make any changes before using the Customiser software and card reader to put the design on the card for the machine. Sounds long winded but I can get a design from the web to the machine in just a couple minutes. Janome also made a scanner for this machine. Hope this helps!
