I'm on a Plan N here in Ohio. Very happy. I did my homework up front. Did my own research. I'm a 31 year career P&C Underwriting Staff guy (Fortune 100 Company) with a CPCU so it was easy for me to transition to understanding Medicare. But not everyone has knowledge and experience I have. That's why this video is better than awesome. You did a wonderful-wonderful job explaining things. Great job!

My husband got Plan N with AARP UHC in Texas and the rate increases have been a little higher than you have stated in your video. They were 5.1 percent in 2022 snd 7.1 percent in 2023. The lowest copay he has paid is 16 dollars, but i would say the average has been around 18 dollars. Overall, we are happy with Plan N and he gets Renew Active as an added bonus with this plan. Thanks Chris for this very informative video.

Been on medicare for 6 years. I stumbled on your channel a few years ago. I did a ton research on my own and picked a plan G. Almost everyone I know has an Advantage plan and is happy with it, but despite what most brokers I talked to had to say, I went with my gut and got a supplement plan. If it had not been for you I probably would have switched over to an Advantage plan during one of the open enrollment periods. Thank you for the education!! I checked with my insurance company today and found out I can switch from G to N if I wanted to, but to go from N back to G would require underwriting. At 69 I would save $17.61 my wife at 76 would save $20.81 a month. Again thanks for a great KZbin channel.

Wife & I passed underwriting after being in the Advantage Plan for 2 years. We consider ourselves fortunate. We are in our first year back to Original Medicare with a Plan G supplement. Can't even begin to express the peace of mind Plan G brings. Of course it absolutely makes sense to consider Plan N, but having 5 out of 6 voids covered and not knowing what the future brings makes Plan G a winner for us at our ages. You have to know that we are on auto-pilot with this supplement, so as long as premiums are paid and on time we can't be cancelled. And since Plan G is popular having many people in "the pool" so to speak, premium increases from year to year might just be kind for the individual. We're happy campers!

Wonderful information to know. I think many agents really believe they are doing their clients right by putting them on a Plan G and they are confused with how the excess charges work. The kicker is how much people can save overtime with less rate increases. Doubt most agents out there know about that as well. The agents and clients have been hoodwinked by the system. Thanks for shedding light on this subject for us.

Hi Chris…….I bought a Plan N supplement from one of your team members, Melanie, starting 1/1/23. As I was doing my research before buying a plan, I listed 4 different KZbinrs to contact and your firm was first on the list. You had the edge going in, but the follow up and correspondence from your team was second to none, therefore you got the business………BTW, one of the people you’re talking about here, Mr. fast-talking “Medicare School” guy only touts Plan G and says that only 90% of MD’s accept Medicare assignment. He stated this on a video and when I questioned him via a comment, there was no response. Thanks for all your help!

First time choosing a Medicare plan, I chose an advantage plan but after doing some research on Plan N, watching every video I could find about Pan N on KZbin, I changed to Plan N with the same insurance co I was on as a retiree, they gave me a discount for staying with them for so long (30+ years). They did try to steer me to Plan G but I was adamant that I wanted Plan N. It’s well within my budget. I had a 30+ career with a large insurance co and I learned not to take risks.

Thank you for the information. I have about a year and a half before I lose my employer provided insurance, and transition to Medicare. As you said, most other sites are pushing plan G exclusively as an alternative to Medicare Advantage. You are only one of two networks on KZbin I've seen that goes into any kind of depth concerning plan N. and between the two, yours was the most informative. I'm still leaning towards plan G, but starting to consider plan N as a viable alternative. I was ignorant of the differences in rate increases until watching your video. Actually in the Utah example you were correct! You inadvertently compared the N with the High G (both were the same rate increase). The N compared to the G was lower (as expected). So how long does one have to live in one of those states, like MO., that does not require underwriting to change to a different plan? AND are the premiums higher in those states to be able to allow one to change plans WITHOUT underwriting? Can anyone change to Medicare Advantage at any time no matter their medical condition? It seems to me Uncle Sam wants as many to go on Medicare Advantage, which is essentially PRIVATE insurance, so they can eliminate senior healthcare OFF their coffers.
@ChristopherWestfall Жыл бұрын
Immediately. You can sign up for an Advantage plan once per year, from Oxtober 15 thru December 7th for a January 1 effective date.
@mikenurmela8913 Жыл бұрын
Chris, you normally do a GREAT job, thank you. In this one you leave out something important: the copays permitted under N that a G plan member won't have. A person having a bypass, or a long recovery after knee or hip replacement, has a LOT of copays - doc visits, imaging, and especially PT. Those copays CAN cause the N plan member to pay more OVERALL than a G plan holder. Obviously, that shouldn't happen EVERY year, but people should have that possibility disclosed/explained too, along with the Excess Charge risk. I do that, and EVERYONE picks G over N. I go that extra mile. Hopefully you train your folks to cover that copay risk too. Keep up your GREAT work!
@ChristopherWestfall Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, Agent Mike. We actually have the NAIC Plan N document that we train on. That way we know, for instance, that Physical Therapy does NOT cause a co-pay on Plan N. You should have known that, too. The rate differential in five years of Plan G vs. 5 years on Plan N can be 70% higher cost on Plan G. Hope you knew that, too. Only comes with experience with thousands of clients on Plan N in 47 states. Again, thanks for watching. PlanNMedicare.org
@mikenurmela8913 Жыл бұрын
Chris has corrected/educated ME! That's a first. There will NOT be copays for PT. N plan premiums DO seem to go up slower than G. I'm still a little uncomfortable with the Excess Charges risk, but since it IS rare, I will join his practice of encouraging N over G. All y'all: pay attention to Chris! And don't even THINK about a Medicare DIS-Advantage plan...

There is NO co-pay for "Urgent" care. However, if you use urgent care as routine primary care, they will bill Medicare as Routine Office Visit vs Urgent. Then, there would be a co-pay.

By New Jersey law, Medigap Plan D is the only plan made available to those under 65. It is a crazy crazy law that makes no sense. Best deal under 65 is usually Advantage until age 65 when you have another enrollment opportunity without Underwriting. See: MedicareOnDisability.com

How does Plan N compare to HD G as far as rate increases and the premiums. I have been looking at the HD seriously for when I'm ready.
@ChristopherWestfall Жыл бұрын
High Deductible Plan G hardly ever has rate increases. Why? Because they pay no claims. You are paying out of pocket. Meanwhile, your deductible, which is set by Medicare, goes up every single year. So your potential out of pocket costs climbs yearly. Many people who insist on the HDG call, angry that it isn't paying anything.

Wow...great video. Totally spot on. An additional disincentive for doctors who do not accept Medicare assignment is that Medicare will not do coordination of benefits for their billing. The doctor is on their on to get the balance due from the supplemental insurance or from the patient. The nightmare of that quagmire is why 99% of doctors don't do excess charges.
