It is not a bug, the higher speed is allowed when the last wagon of the train has driven past the higher speed sign. The reason bis because if you drive out of a 40 zone, lets say Amsterdam Centraal, with all the changes in track and you are allowed to drive 60, you want to speed up after the whole train has passed the sign otherwise the last carriage will hit the change with a speed which is too high. We as train drivers learn to speed up after the sign and we do that by counting the portals and the amount of carriages we are currently having.

I didn't know that. I've thought for 5 years it was a bug in the game :D

Or just tap the "counter" on most modern locomotives and it starts counting down the length of your train and gives a sound when it's at 0m :)

Yeah, generally you should speed up after the whole train has passed the sign. HOWEVER, it is a glitch in game. Wasn’t originally intended to work that way. It’s an error on American routes that have cab signallly. Shows the higher speed after the train has passed which isn’t true. Here, you get a speed change just before the sign.
@MakeSomeHumanoise6 жыл бұрын
The speed “bug” is not really a bug but it’s not behaving like when you drive in the real world. For example you drive 40 km/h and you are passing a 6 sign, in a few seconds after passing it the ATB signal receiver in your train receives the frequention from the track and tells you 60 is the maximum allowed speed. However you’ll have to wait to give traction untill your train has fully passed the 6 sign. (In TRAXX there’s an option where you can activate a meter counter while passing the sign so it gives a signal when you fully passed it because TRAXX knows your train length)

It depends where in the world you are. In Italy, for example, increasing speed limits are posted from the point where the train can accelerate again. I see 160? I can increase the speed just as I pass the speed board, without counting how many cars my train has.
@deano3054 жыл бұрын
@@FSantoro91 is that in Limited Supervision or full supervision? In NSW Aus the ETCS changes the speed limit when the front of the train hits the speed board, but the network rule specifies that the speed does not apply until the full train is beyond that board. We use Level 1 Limited Supervision, when it becomes L2 in a few years time the the rear of the train speed will become enforced.
@FSantoro914 жыл бұрын
@@deano305 that would be in non-ETCS territory. We only have ETCS L2 on HSR lines, without lineside signals. On the conventional network we use a form of ATP called SCMT, which works roughly similar to ETCS L1 (but with continuous cab signalling constantly updating signal aspects).
@deano3054 жыл бұрын
@@FSantoro91 Ah right, interesting. We are getting L1 LS then they'll switch to L2 shortly after once the signal boxes are all centralised and upgraded. We currently have no ATP, just trip cocks at alot red signals, and some speed releasing ones.

2:17 THIS IS NOT A BUG! Higher speedlimits only have to carriered out if the whole train has passed the speed-sign! Imagine you are driving through a junktion that is allowed to pass with 40km/h and at the end you pass a sign saying that you are now allowed to Drive 100km/h. You have to make sure that your whole Train has left the junktion that is only allowed to pass at 40 km/h.

Hi ! How would ETCS work when at danger and you need to fully stop the train (ex. If a train ahead of you breaks down or similar)? Does it also say "speed limit 0 km/h" ?
@christrains_real5 жыл бұрын
If you're passing at danger then you're under driver supervision and it's your responsibility to stop for any blockage on the track in front.

@@christrains_real thank you for the answer Chris, I was browsing through your content and I cannot believe that a single person like you can make such good content, better than the guys at Dovetail games themselves.
