I work with herbs, formulating natural products for human use, so this is fascinating stuff for me. Really well put together video, very complete detailed info without wasting unnecessary time. Bloody great job. Ill be making these herbal concoctions for my garden this year. Really psyched that this can also be used as medicine! Huge bonus!

Hi there, this is just my instinct; but I feel that any extraction that is a brown sugar based extract (like FPJ, FFJ) the dilution is 1:500. While if the extraction is alcohol base (like OHN) then the dilution is 1:1000 (with a halving of that every 3 years, specifically for OHN). The dilution extraction for a vinegar based (WCA/P) is also 1:1000 like that of OHN. Althiugh I’m unsure if the halving applies to WCA/P as well. In my head, extracts that has “alcoholic composition” or “mineral composition” will have a dilution of 1:1000 and 1:500 to the other inputs.

Thank you again sir.. This mix gives me a feeling this stuff could be potentially the go to remedy for everything on the farm.. Colds, flu, animal water tonic... the other preparations admixture, the favorite hopping used in beer... you name it.. I got so excited waiting for payday.. I started making the garlic.. ginger.. I used my residual SAAZ hop from my first beer brew..., some dried SanPedro powder, Some heads of bud mixed with rosemary, sage and feverfew, and for some bizarre reason I had a 50g packet of Astragalus root.. strange coincidence.. So I had beer and everything else that could even help with the Corona virus.. Now I just have to register myself as a monastary and brew my own "Plaag Bier"... hehe...

I'm planning to go to the certification classes in Idaho, and look forward to meeting in person. Like a lot of other folks, I'm wondering where you sourced the dry ingredients as my concern is the ones I have used and will be extracting for the first time tomorrow may be a little difficult and may not be..."natural..." they seem very light, whispy/airy/stringy, as opposed to the thick chunks seen here. Thanks for your time and I hope you have/had a great harvest :)

I finally have all my ingredients, and made it to the fermentation step. I was wondering though why you use 1/10th of a jar for dry ingredients, and other recipes call for 1/3rd of the jar for the dry ingredients? Do you think it matters? Another note: I have Sassafras in my area, reported to be antiviral, also mucilaginous like Cinnamon.

Chris, these videos are great. if i may suggest a few tips. It would be great to have more follow up videos on how/when and where to apply these serums. For instances, the LAB video, once the fermentation process is done and you separate the curds, can we use it immediately as soil drench/foliar feed, do we have to add molasses and store it for months? Why add molasses? How do you apply all of these natural farming methods to your farm? Thank you for being a great teacher!

Best instructionall on OHN I've seen! I'm all over this. Looking forward to hearing you talk more about this. When I went to the Asian grocery store near my house, all of the dried herbs were from China and fumigated with sulfites/sulfur dioxide. I put everything back on the shelf and ordered online from Mountain Rose Herbs where there's OG and untreated. Assuming these preservatives are not helpful during the fermentation process. What do you think?

I made OHN!!!! Two things. I slacked on the mixing of the containers every day. Shame shame!! Also, when I was about to do extraction 4 I decided to check if it was actually my last one(because calendars are overrated am I right?) I duplicated the process with the same sized jars filled with water to test where I would end up if it was my final..what I found out was my extraction #4 was actually my last extraction. I used jars 1:2 in size so I just wanted to let you guys know to double check it is your second to last extraction because I don't know what I would've done if I had gotten to my last extraction and couldn't fit it into my jar (I mean I would've figured something out but doing it right counts for a lot to me haha). Anyways, I REALLY APPRECIATE YOU CHRIS! GOD BLESS!

Between you and Drake, I have started my first Fermented Plant Juice, made with Mugwort. I have a patch in an old garden bed which needs to be turned to get the Mugwort going again for next year. Mugwort is used to improve respiration and helps repair lung tissue, Drake says it also pulls toxins out of bone, so helping plants breath and have good structure sound good to me. It's my first FPJ because I don't have all the ingredients for the OHN yet, but I'm close. I also plan to make FPJ out of a few wild plants here (Bush Clover, Sericea Lespedeza), that seem to be tolerating the growing conditions and this crazy drought. I can only assume they must have very deep roots which (I'm hoping) will translate into stronger roots in my vegetable plants and trees. I have heavy clay soil with lots of sharp rocks. The bush clover is being investigated for use as a natural treatment for parasites and pathogens for goats and sheep in a pellitized form. I do worry though that it might mess with the biology of my other inputs when I get further into KNF.
@davidka8345
@davidka8345 2 жыл бұрын
You can just use, what you have. CGNF India recommends to use just cinnamom, ginger and garlic for the OHN. As it takes a while, you have time to figure out how to get the other ingredients and you still have the option to do a second batch with the remaining ingredients. And yes, FPJ is great stuff. I stumbled across the KNF ammendments this spring and fermented many different FPJs. LAB is also a powerful KNF ammendment and easy to make.

I am still a bit confused on the garlic extraction. It is clear you will get more liquid out of the jars that had less solids. In the video, you mention you will talk about how to handle the garlic later, but you never come back to it. Could you please explain how you extract the garlic to get the same amount of total liquid after the 5th extraction? My assumption is you keep all the garlic liquid you need in order to have the same final amount of strained liquid for each jar, which means you will be adding more vodka to the garlic jars?

I know your a really busy person but wouldn't it be cool to hold a online zoom like 2-3 month class on this where each student is able to show their work daily and have you or a certified cho/soilsmith person verify each ingredient and daily stirring etc... I would pay for classes like that...

Your instructions were very helpful. I had to rewatch it several times to get all the details. As it is a lot of work, I decided to do it in two steps and simplify the ingredients to three for each batch: I started as recommended by CGNF India with (Ceylon) cinnamom, ginger and garlic. I just need three jars for extraction and if it goes well, I do a second batch with the remaining ingredients. Meanwhile I have time to get the more difficult ingredients. Also a big help was the Shaping Fire podcast episode where Chris explains to the host all the details to OHN.

Hey bro- when I was making o h n for my second soak I forgot where I put the containers I just found them in a box I would say 1.5-2 years later the material is still submerged and the liquid is very thin and smells great. Can i strain and use as 2+year old OHN or is the oversoaking counterproductive?THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY THANK U FOR TAKING YOUR TIME TO ANSWER MINE/THE COMMUNITY'S SILLY QUESTIONS!!!

+Lysander Tudela I am sorry to hear. I am happy that you are trying though. Keep it out of the sun. Use more sugar. Make sure to only fill 2/3 full. I hope these help.

Hey Chris I enjoyed your vid! Was wondering if you could use the extraction on plants at any one point in the process or does one need to take it out to 4-5 extraction before use? Wouldn't just keep getting more diluted with each extraction?
@biomei.solutions
@biomei.solutions 7 жыл бұрын
+roger twarling it is MUCH more potent in first extraction. If you have to use some, dilute it 1:3000.

Chris. I know you addressed mold on the ginger in this video and you said it’s ok to use in KNF. But I can’t seem to find any expert on the web that says we can consume it ourselves as OHN. Can we?

Thank you so much for the information, video was wonderfully put together. I had a question as to what kind of cinnamon was used, what if I can only access cassia and can't get zeylanicum/ Ceylon? I hear Ceylon has better health benefits compared to cassia for humans but I wanted to confirm which one you used or if it really even made a difference. Thanks again for your work and for sharing this amazing content
