About This Video:
In this video, Chris Trump from NaturalFarming.co teaches you how to make a simple microbial solution. This method was created using principles found in Natural Farming by Cho Young-San who calls the body of work "JADAM".
While Master Cho Han-Kyu has worked to open the understanding of nature through the principles/method of Natural Farming. Cho Young-San, the son of Master Cho felt that it need to be simpler.
I believe that both are very important as the human race returns to valuing healthy food and stewardship of the land. Natural Farming was part of the avenue for JADAM to born, what else can be birthed by stopping to listen, see, and observe nature as it exists.
Chris Trump is an expert in Natural Farming. Chris teaches Natural Farming worldwide and creates resources to equip farmers and gardeners on how to increase crop and livestock performance through sustainability, all while decreasing costs. Be part of the Natural Farming movement to increase awareness of the global food crisis and how to combat it.

I've been using JMS for 4 months now on our farm here in the Philippines. It usually takes 48 hours before its ready to use, but now that's "summer" (not rainy season) it only takes a little over 24 hours! It facilitates incredible growth and combined with JLF we've seen equal to, dare I say it, more growth and fruiting than neighboring farms using chemical pelleted fertilizers! IMHO, I've been seeing better results from transitioning to JADAM from Korean Natural Farming. What has been your observation? Keep up the good work!

+Ian Penaflorida good job doing it man. I think you need to do what works on your farm for you. JADAM is easier to learn, I find people do NF wrong and aren't willing to overcome the learning curve. In that scenario I think JADAM is the way to go. There aren't corners to cut, it's already as simple as can be, and it's good! If you farm trees or bushes I think you consider jumping back into NF and trying again, but if you are doing row crops only maybe you don't need. NF teaches how nature works as you learn more and go deeper, that is the part you might miss. :) Sounds like you have an awesome farm! Keep on doing this loving of nature farming :)

Stumbled onto your Channel a week ago and I have to say I'm pretty excited to learn. In the past I've gone out and collected microorganisms in my local forests but I didnt really know what to do with it and was adding them to my compost and worm bins to increase the biodiversity of the final product. Your videos are sending me down a rabbit hole I never knew existed and I find it fascinating. Your videos are easy to understand and I look forward to learning more

I've used comfrey tea for years. I also chop and drop it as mulch. I use Russian Bocking 14 with an NPK of 1.8-0.5-7.0. I brew it in a 32 gallon black garbage can. Let it sit for 3 months to a year. I don't strain it, I just take the sprinkler off the can so I don't clog up the cans. I also use fermented plant juice made from comfrey which I foliar spray. I use only 1/4 teaspoon for 5 gallons. It's very powerful stuff. I also make lacto microorganisms which is also fermented. I combine it with the fermented plant juice and spray it every two weeks. It works pretty well. The only other addition I use for supplemental fertilization is some fast acting bone meal . I will use it when I start to see flowers forming on my tomatoes and peppers. Love it! Blessings to you. This was a wonderful video.

Anyone else wondering about sea water instead of Salt. You need 430ml for 15 litre bucket. So thats 430ml added too 14.5~ fresh water. Sea water is avout 35g per litre, for 430ml should be 15.05 grams salt.

Chris, thank you so much for taking your time to share your knowledge and wisdom!! I am truly grateful! Quick question and I probably missed this in the video. Are you diluting JMS with non chlorinated water? Or can I dilute straight out of the tap (hose) ??? Would you recommend reverse osmosis water to start with and dilute?
@SeanOrfila
@SeanOrfila 4 жыл бұрын
You can off-gas your tap water by letting it sit outside for 24-48hrs, or to speed up you can throw a bubbler in it and it might be finished in 12-24hrs. This is to allow the chloride to off-gas which is added to municipal waters to kill bacteria common to pipes, with this method we are trying to cultivate microbes so need the opposite. Not sure about RO, but if it’s filtering the chloride out then that would be a way to expedite, but you can also just leave it outside to do its thing

The soil contains the microbes you need, any starch or sugar will work, and (real) sea salt adds minerals but so do crushed multi-vitamins.. No need for bags! put it all in a bucket and let it work. It generates heat, and if it is still bullbing it isn't finished. When you make an instructional video it helps to understand how thing work.

Hi, thanks for sharing your knowledge. I make jms regularly for my garden. Now, I've been exchanging comments on a JADAM FB group, and some are adamant sa fungi (mycorrhizal etc) do not propagate in water or in JMS. Some claim to see none in their microscopes, or that fungus need solid matter and a host to multiply.. I myself often see a bunch of mushrooms after watering jms for the first time is some beds etc... I was wondering if you could share what you think.

Off the cuff idea: I know sea water instead of sea salt (430ml sea water to four gallons water) is good to do. Would using sea water coming out of a marsh inlet from high going to low tide be even better, as it's essentially flushing all the microbial goodness the sea water has steeped in during high tide?
@SimpleEarthSelfReliance
@SimpleEarthSelfReliance 2 жыл бұрын
Makes sense, and I agree. I think Mr Cho intends sea water, as it contains a myriad of elements, whereby salt probably does not contain them. I would say the marsh water would be a massive boon over salt, and as always 'use what you got!'. Sea water contains almost 100 million microbes in 1 cubic centimeter of sea water, so I wouldn't even worry about just using normal salt. Would like to know how it went?

The jadam book states to use 1k of potatoes for 132 gal which is 38g for 5gal. Your 3 potatoes is probably at least 100g. Is there a reason why you went with more starch? 38g is pretty little when I made JMS and I wanted to add more. Is it also beneficial to add worm compost or anything else? Thanks
@lordbanhmi3389
@lordbanhmi3389 Жыл бұрын
My understanding is that the potatoes are just food for the microbes, and the whole process is kind of an eye ball thing. You don't really need exact, precise measurements. In fact, Chris actually states this in his FAA video, that he stopped measuring because it was becoming tedious. I usually use 2 large russets (cooked til soft), a handful of leafmold/imo, ~1.5 teaspoons of the salt.
@geeyoupee
@geeyoupee Жыл бұрын
@@lordbanhmi3389 I think I read that it does matter on the amount you use. I can't recall where I read it but I think it has to do with how much food is available and which microbes are able to proliferate. If you have an abundance of food, there's no competition and everything including microbes that have a tiny population. That's what I vaguely remember, don't quote me on it. If you measure out 38g, it's a lot less than you think.

Hey man, I am a little nervous to add salt to my garden. My garden is already organic, I use no bottles and only raw products.i can sort of grasp using mineral rich ocean water to supplement garden occasionally. But please help me to understand how using salt increases microbial life?

Aren't there a lot of pesticides in potatoes that aren't organic? Would this effect the process?

Are you only going to be using KNF ? Or you going to be implementing other organic amendments

@@levicris2081 dude I lied.. for 1st and only transplant i was only planning to innoculate roots with mycorrhizal fungi before going into fab pots of fox farm ocean with lil extra perlite and and volcano. I was extra stoned when i stumbled here. Have you read up on myco fungi yet?

Can you add it concentrated into your compost bin to speed up the composting???

Leaving water out for 24 hours makes the chemicals more concentrated they don't evaporate faster than water. Do you think epsom salt would work ?

Quick question, can you use other veggies instead? What's special about using potatoes? Is it the starch?
@seanwoode2851
@seanwoode2851 Жыл бұрын
The carbohydrates are what’s special. The microbial life feeds on that. Potatoes are high in carbohydrates, you might be able to use other things with high carb content but potatoes are cheap and effective
