You can't be a Christian until you can answer this question. How did King Saul die? Which of the 4 verses is the real one? 1SA 31:4-6 Saul killed himself by falling on his sword. 2SA 1:2-10 Saul, at his own request, was slain by an Amalekite. 2SA 21:12 Saul was killed by the Philistines on Gilboa. 1CH 10:13-14 Saul was slain by God. Remember God is not the author of confusion. 1 Corin 14:33 1 Peter 3:15 says always give an answer. 1 Thess 5:21 says prove all things.

I am Eastern Orthodox. My whole Church is vegan most of the year because it is tradition from the prophets. I am vegan/vegetarian because I am Christian. Our monks and nuns are usually 100 percent vegan/vegetarian. I feel that being vegan/vegetarian is a reflection of Christ's heart. More vegan than vegetarian because of our factory farming atrocities.

Yeah. I'm Serbobserve ian Orthodox and people here couldn't be further from veganism. I mean, there are 3 or 4 longer fasts and many people observe the big ones. It's not uncommon that they also eat fish every Wednesday and Friday. But for most Serbs, everything outside of that is a carnivore feast. The part about our monastery population being vegan as a rule is true.

Great interview. Great questioning. Just watched Piers Morgan interview Kip and Cam - talk about pushback, and a biased car crash! I'm not religious, but the question, "What would Jesus do?", is synonymous with asking what the most compassionate person that ever lived, do? The key word is 'compassion'. It denotes empathy and kindness. Vegan for the animals, the planet and for health.❤

I saw this film and I thought it was epic. The importance of this film cannot be overstated. I have always been very disturbed at how so many people, who consider themselves religious, godly, or bound for heaven, are able to, so easily, justify the eating of animals. Some say "god gave us animals to use at our discretion" and similar-type comments. Many consider the issue absolutely unimportant or frivolous. When I first heard Kameron Waters say: "Is there a spiritual way to kill an animal" and "How would Jesus kill an animal?", I thought it was earth-shattering! I think if we were talking about one (1) animal and the 24/7 suffering that would be extremely important but, when we are talking about billions and billions of animals and the horrors of hell that they go through...well, this speaks for itself. I think this film is the most important one I've ever seen in my life (I'm a senior citizen) and I am not exaggerating one bit.

After the deciples caught a magnitude of fish and came up on the shore, Jesus was cooking fish on the coals ….did he cook them alive or kill them ? :) after the flood God gave clear instructions that man was allowed to eat meat (animals) never once in the whole rest of scripture does it say anything contrary to this, all things in this earth are temporal in the end times there will be masses of deaths in both animal kingdom and humans you only have to read revelation (the former things passed away) all things new , God wants us to win souls for His kingdom not get caught up trying to save things on this temporal world that have no eternal soul,

Rotten tomatoes 🍅 97%, the Waters' and Andersen's other film work, and this interview speak for themselves to anyone bold enough to watch them, and for me, raise some massively important questions, ones I can't help but think may allow me to benefit my children in the future, like clear-cased health, economic, & climate blights that don't have several complex resolutions, but maybe just one simple one. Each previous film is intuitively tied together (Cowspiracy, What the Health?!, & Seaspiracy) and which lead to this one. Tying excellent research & science from major worldwide organizations makes for an almost tangible documentary experience, that I am sure will also be thoroughly delivered in this film. That all being said, I have no religious connections (raised Catholic) and am just approaching this with an open mind, and appreciate the objective, relatable and lightweight questioning here 🙏

I have a problem. I just can't see how there could be a moral/ethical way to kill animals humans have farmed. Where is the ethical line between a farmer who treats animals well and yet still kills them, or, a mass production ranch/station/farm where the workers/owners have some distance from the cattle/pigs/sheep/chickens because they have many hundreds of animals from which they can maintain emotional distance? As a lifelong non believer and a vegetarian, now WFPB/vegan, since the age of 12 when I saw cattle herded together waiting to be slaughtered (on a Sunday drive my father answered my question as to why they were there), I just cannot see how beliefs of our species has any meaning at all for other species. We humans have so much advantage over every other species on the planet with the size of our brains, language, our opposable digits, and what palaeoanthropologists describe as grips, such as the power grip and the precision grip, plus our social organisation. The two grips allow for throwing, cutting and clubbing. Evolution of our hands, compared to chimpanzees for example, has allowed our hands free to care for our needy offspring, plant, harvest, and, yes, kill, because our predecessors the hominids became bipedal. The spiritual dimension just does not match our physical ability to dominate everything on the planet. We don't deserve the natural world which has evolved with us imo

Jesus would not kill or eat an animal for Jesus followed God from the beginning. As a Theologian and Vegan minister for 14 years, I can tell you that a plant-based diet is the Godliest diet a human being can eat, for meat is manmade, Meat is not a creation of God, only plants are created by God. There is no ethical or spiritual way to kill or eat animals. Galatians 4:4, “When the fullness of time had come, God sent forth God’s son Jesus Christ, born under the law of God.” The law and works of God is Genesis 1:29, “Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And God looked upon all that He had made, and indeed, it was very good.” John 10:37. Jesus told the people, “Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father, and then, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.” Matthew 5:17, Jesus told us, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Laws of God for I have not come to abolish them, but to fulfill them. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from God’ Law until everything is accomplished. Therefore, if anyone who sets aside even one of the least of God’s commands and teaches other commands contrary to God’s sound doctrines and requirements, they will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches God’s commands from the beginning will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you, that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.” John 5:19, Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I can do nothing by myself, for what I see God do; I do, for whatever God does, I also do the same, in a like manner.”

Living in a rural environment you realize that all the animals have little personalities and everything. The Bible describes people raising their animals like family members. That's why it is such a big deal when one of those animals particularly the fatted calf or the perfect 3 year old lamb is slaughtered. It is supposed to be a picture of how terrible it is for the father to have sacrificed his son Jesus on the cross like that. Of course in modern society that image is lost.

First of all the question that is being posed is rather non-sensical. The reason being is something that is spiritual is spiritual... hunting for food or taking the life of an animal is a physical act. To conflate those two is an error, one that can be easily missed. Let's put it this way, I have interacted with Muslims which tend to pose this question, "Where in the Bible does Jesus say, "I am God?"" Well, if we are being specific regarding a sentence where he uses those words in that exact way, then "No". However, if I were to begin to list the numerous way in which he makes that very claim, this post would be rather long. (John 14:6 - "He that has seen me has seen the Father, how are saying show me the Father." Another example would be, when I engage with Catholics they will ask, "Where in the Bible does it say that the Bible is the only authority?" Once again, those words and said that way, No. No where does it say it in that way exactly. However, over and over again we understand the claims of scripture to be the Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16 - "All scripture is breathed out by God...". To frame this topic with the question that is asked here and repeatedly in the documentary is to suggest that this is a topic of any significance in scripture, or that Jesus himself was a vegan. Just from a theological perspective... 1. Mark 8:7-8 7 "And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them" 8 "So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets" This passage shows that Jesus fed the multitude fish. Now this passage does not address whether or not Jesus ate the fish, but what it does do is show that he advocating the eating of fish. Now a passage that is even more directly in contradiction to the claims of this documentary regarding Jesus, is found in... 2. Luke 24:42-43 42 "And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb" 43 "And he took it, and did eat before them." Jesus, at least according to the Bible was not a vegan. Now if the question is did Jesus catch those fish himself, there is a passage in John 21 that points to the fact that he himself caught the fish they ate. Regardless, these verses I've displayed above, at the very least, have him complicit in the eating of fish. So the conspiracy competent of the doc is not accurate.

Right. So somehow these two guys stumble on truths that have evaded Christian scholars and theologians for 2,000 years and somehow these truths just happen to fit their desire to demonstrate that Jesus was a vegan/vegetarian. No serious interpretation indicates that Jesus was a Nazarene versus from Nazareth. These guys have no background in scriptural interpretation, clearly very limited theological knowledge and want to push a narrative. I appreciate that Simon has no basis to properly critique their point of view and is simply interested in this from a vegan point of view, but if he is going to delve into Christian theology, hermeneutics and Scriptural interpretation, then he really ought to bring in someone who can do so. These guys may believe what they are saying, but they are simply ignorant.

it is not *their* point of view, they're talking to theologians and oxford scholars so it is the point of those theologians and oxford scholars but it's so easy for you to dismiss the documentary by using ad hominem attack focusing on the lack of background in scriptural interpration of the filmmakers instead of attacking the actual theologians and oxford scholars

With magic like water into wine In the Bible story of Jesus feeding the 5,000, Jesus multiplies five loaves of bread and two small fish into enough food for 5,000 men, women, and children, plus some leftovers.

Wow johnnyyy, you know better than people who spend their lives studying the scripts.. Prove it. How would Jesus kill an animal? And if I had to guess, I'd say you're going to hell for putting words on His mouth. But I hope God brings light your way.
@johngodsey5327Ай бұрын
@@pedeamendoa6522 prove it? Ok I have a degree in theology so chances are i know more than you, and way more than those who made this film. Jesus is god Therefore 1. Jesus said to eat animals for food in genesis 9 2. Jesus commanded the OT sacrifices (they were not optional for Israel) , as well as what could/could not be eaten. 3. Jesus on earth at the Passover every year of his life. This included lamb,eggs 4. Jesus cooked at ate fish (there is no koine greek word for the made up “fish weed”) 5. Jesus healed people and told them to make sacrifices and show the priests. That would be bulls, lambs, goats , or if you were poor, 2 doves. 6. Jesus created fish for thousands to eat 7. Jesus gave the vision to Peter that all animals (and men) were not unclean. He could go and eat the food at the gentiels house , and preach the gospel to the humans to save them. Which he did. 8. OT prophecy in Isaiah is the the sacrificial system will be reinstated after Jesus returns for the Jews to commemorate their rejection and eventual acceptance of Jesus as messiah. 9. Jesus instructed Paul to write his letter detailing “those religions that forbid marriage and eating meat” They are satanic 10. Paul also wrote that those that eat meat are strong, while the believers who only eat vegetables are weak in the faith. Veganism for the believer is a sign of spiritual weakness So there Punkin Don’t ever ask a classically trained Bible scholar to prove something from the Bible you know little to nothing about Cuz I’ll embarrass you

@@pedeamendoa6522 also how would Jesus kill an animal? The only documented Area the end of John. Jesus caught and broiled fish for his disciples . So the i it choices 1. He cut off heads and gutted (probably not) 2. He smacked them on the head and then cooked them (most likely this is how it was done) 3. Broiled them alive. (Probably not this one) Also, people don’t go to hell for putting words in Jesus mouth Hey go to hell because they reject the gospel that’s saves them. You need a bible lesson

The Father sacrificed the Son; not the romans or the jews first. The Creator, according to the Bible, is Jesus Christ, and He commanded the sacrificial system pointing to Himself as the High Priest and the Lamb of God.

Kip and Cam make it sound as though the Israelites killed animals for sport or for their own selfish reasons. The Law of Moses in the Old Testament prescribed that animals be sacrificed for the atonement of sin. Once Jesus came, that old law, in the words of Jesus, was fulfilled and His death and resurrection have atoned for all human sin.

There is no evidence that what is in the bible is from God or is truthful. James 1:27 calls it a religion what you are reading. The dictionary says religion is a set of beliefs. 2 Tim 3:16 says all scripture is inspired by God. But if something is truthful, then why would it have to be inspired? Psalms 137:9 and 2 Kings 6:29 tell you how to eat the right foods.

Maybe I need to watch the actual film for clarification here, but from the interview, I'm confused by an apparent conflation between animals used for sacrifice and animals used for food. To my knowledge, the animals being sold in the temple where Jesus overturned the tables were being sold to be used as sacrifices. It was a requirement for Jews visiting the temple to offer up a sacrifice, and as many traveled long distances, they had no way to transport their own sacrificed (dead) animal. People were not to EAT their sacrifices, nor were they to eat the sacrifices offered up to idols. That's the entire point of a sacrifice -- to give it up, to deny yourself of it.

Guys, if you want to talk about Christian views about this, let’s talk. This is cherry picking verses and ignoring dozens of verses saying the exact opposite of what they want. Can anyone find a Christian interview with these guys?
@criticaloptimist79612 ай бұрын
That doesn't work. The truth is beyond the text. The development of the text itself was ad hoc, i.e. the Scriptures were edited and transformed over time to suit developing dogma. We have plenty of evidence for this. What's in our bibles isn't necessarily what should have been.
@ryannoe862 ай бұрын
@@criticaloptimist7961 Let's chat about that. Give me some examples.

@@criticaloptimist7961Not edited but I would say misinterpreted Bible translators because they Hebrew is sometimes difficult to translate to English. Many many Hebrew words don't even have an English equal...Can't even be translated. So the translators put what they thought it meant. Also Hebrew has a lot of idioms that the Israelites used daily and lots of them are in the Bible and the translators didn't know how to translate the idioms so they just left it as is. Like the idiom "gnashing of teeth". Well this is a Hebrew idiom used by the people of that time. The translators didn't translate it but just left it like that. They were not literally gnashing their teeth. And we in the US have idioms to that if said in another country those people would not know what we were talking about. Alone a US citizen would know the meaning. We are regular people reading the Bible can misinterpret it too. It helps to look at the Hebrew meaning of words as you read and also to know the culture of the people of book as well as the Ancient Near East culture. Hope this helps.
@FruityHachi2 ай бұрын
@@potterylady44 translators are professionals who know not just individual words in the foreign language but are also aware of idioms and culture of that language, and when there are untranslatable words they deal with them by for example writing notes at the bottom of the page to explain what it means so when you're pointing out that english translators left the hebrew idiom, means that those translators didn't do their job properly

Evangelically raised young men “discover” progressive Christianity. I appreciated Simon’s honesty about his own lack of knowledge about the subject matter. Given Simon’s commitment to rigor in his field, I would have hoped that would translate to hosting guests who are experts in theirs. These guests have no expertise in the field of Biblical scholarship. Having them as guests is akin to having the social media fitness influencers Simon abhors on the show. Mildly interesting, wildly misleading.
