Agreed but tv's loss is radio's gain. It's great getting back to the car after a match on a Sunday and hearing himself, Mullane and Carroll debating what they've witnessed. Lead by the brilliant Jacqui Hurley.

Great interview Nice that Christy has a trophy named after him even if it's a lower tier trophy. Its become common place now to just say The Christy Ring. Would be great to see a documentary on Ring to see what all the fuss is about because he is probably The Legend of the game.

The current Cork team remind me of Tipp around the middle of the decade. On their day, when they click, they can beat anyone but they have plenty of 'off days'. Even within games they can be superb at one point and then go well off the boil for periods. There's a dramatic difference between their best and their worst. Tipp were the same. Look at how kk teams under Cody always seem to hit a certain standard and it's rare for them to dip below it. I know that's a very high bar.

Well no....Tipperarys problem was the chopping and changing of senior management, liam sheedys loss in 2011 set them back massively. Also unlike Cork they had the conveyor belt of talent from successful underage teams to push on and win titles in 2010, 2016 & 2019, probably would have won 2009 if the penalty wasnt given to an excellent KK outfit in the last 5 mins, and in 2017 also if not for Barry Kelly getting Galway over the line with something like 19 frees!!

@@mac6899 Well no...you've completely missed my point. You're comparing title winning credentials. My post is about the comparison of erratic form which both teams display. Maybe the source of Tipp's was 'chopping and changing' management, I dunno but that's irrelevant to my post. The comparison I'm making is (from game to game and) for ten minutes within games this Cork team (and that Tipp team) could look unbeatable and ten minutes later you're wondering where the next score is coming from.

@@heffo67 Again performance fadeout is ultimately down to Management, because not enough attention was paid to fitness and game/ training intensity, an area in which Brian cody and co put so much effort into over 10 - 12 consistent seasons, a formula which proved deadly when facing the minimal resistance encountered during the Leinster championship at that time. Other factors in relation to the issues you mentioned are simply to do with players, fadeout can be a case of a lack of quality players on the field or on the bench, Cork for the first time in their history have been found wanting in this regard, since 2005 when games were in the melting pot their panel and bench have not stood up, 2013 a classic example, On the other hand Tipperary fielded 5 or 6 new aces in 2010 to supplement the old guard of Kelly, Cummins, & Corbett etc, in 2016 they introduced 5 more aces in John McGrath,John o Dwyer(2014), Dan McCormack, Michael Breen & Seamus Kennedy, who contributed massively in securing Munster and All Ireland success. The same could be said when Sheedy sprung U21 winners from the bench in 2019 to see off a serious Wexford outfit while a man down and 3 goals disallowed!!

Christy Ring a great man👑, but Kilkenny had hurlers in the last 20 years that matched his skills or some surpassed his excellents thats facts Cork like it or not..Cork Supporter 🌹

Ring was the best player of his time you can't do anymore or better than that, and for a long time, so to say kilkenny had better players in the last 20 years is rubbish as they were the best of the time they played in, but better than Ring not so ! Apples and oranges different times, different game, different hurling, different hurley , different boots, they were harder men ,!

@@patrickcoleman7997 Your spot on. Anybody making similarities between Christy Ring and the likes of King Henry, Eddie Brennan etc, need to look at the documentary, Christ Ring Man and ball. It's only after watching this that you realise how great Christy Ring really was. Listen to all the accolades he gets from hurling greats past and present. My own late Dad always marvelled about his genius on the pitch. So, your right. Different era in hurling. I would actually argue that Hoggie is as good if not better than King Henry or those other Kilkenny greats. They played on winning teams, year after year. They played with savage teams. Hoggie, isn't so lucky, bit that doesn't make him a lesser player. Anyway, up the Rebels on Sunday. Hopefully, Hoggie will be lifting Liam Mc Carthy !!!

@@jamesmccarthy7228 ya you are right about Ring was the best all hurling people of the time knew it Horgan and Canning in my view were the best hurlers of the modern era better than the kilkenny players King Henry third
