Today on Vulnerable, my guest is the multi-talented Anna Akana. In 2011 she launched her KZbin channel that now has over 2.8 million subscribers. She is a writer, actress, filmmaker and musician. I’m convinced there’s NOTHING this girl can’t do.
Nothing is off limits in my conversation with her and we talk about therapy, cosmetic enhancements, the evolution of feminism, using her trauma in stand-up comedy, dealing with trolls, friend breakups and more.

Welcome to the official Christy Carlson Romano KZbin channel! Christy has been a working actress and singer since she was 6 years old. She moved to Los Angeles with her mother when she was 14 to star in the Disney Channel franchise, Even Stevens as Ren Stevens alongside Shia LaBeouf. Christy enjoyed many years with Disney gaining an Emmy nomination for her voice work as Kim Possible and starring on Broadway in Beauty and the Beast. She went on to balance her college career at Barnard College, Columbia University with filming movies for ABC Family including: ‘Campus Confidential’, ‘Taking Five’, ‘The Cutting Edge 2: Going for the Gold’, and ‘The Cutting Edge 3: Chasing the Dream’. Christy returned to Broadway in her mid twenties and learned to be a puppeteer in the Tony-Award winning ‘Avenue Q’. Christy was married to her husband on New Years Eve , 2013 in Banff, Canada after having met in a screenwriting class in college. She became impassioned with directing and made her debut in Lionsgate’s “Christmas All Over Again”. I love that you guys talked about friendships because friendship breakups do suck. I've had friends growing up that as we got older we either drifted apart or had a falling out and it's sad to look back on memories and remember that this person was supposed to be in your future wedding or you were supposed to go on a long road trip with them but it never happened because the season of your friendship ended. Currently, I have two best friends..my boyfriend and my friend shanell. My best friend shanell lives two states away from me and we see each other in person at least once a year but we text and call each other often. I want more friends but it's hard because of my trust issues plus, as we get older it's harder to make friends in general.

I love your show vulnerable. The depths of the many topics you speak about resonate with so many people in various ways. In a sense. These conversations are enlightening and therapeutic, and some of it quite funny. I love it. Speaking of friend breakups, I couldn't help but laugh at how accurate the conversation was in relation to friend breakups with weddings. Long story short, my bestie from the 8th grade, by the way we are reaching 49 and 50 (I'm younger 😂), broke up with me right before my third marriage. 3 times a charm right? Long story short, I was in college. Art school full time, planning my wedding in a different state so my family could attend, working out plans to fly my mother in law out to be a part of it, and my finals were the week, weekend of my wedding so I was working very hard the entire month before to get ahead of my classes so I could have the majority of my work complete. I spent the day before my wedding finalizing and editing my work for turn in....ok maybe not so short 😅...anyhow, the week before my wedding she blasted hate on her fb about me without using my name. But all our friends and my kids knew who she was referring to because I was her only friend getting married at the time, my daughter got on and called her out and told her how selfish and childish she was being, sent me a screen shot of the public arguement over my coming up wedding, I was unaware because I don't do social media very much during finals week, nor do I communicate, anyways after her childish argument with my daughter she unfriended me and my kids without even saying anything to me. I will also say, I told her in advanced and several times during g that month, hey I've got alot going on I'm going to be out of touch, I barely have time for my family and myself right now because I'm trying to get everything done before we leave, yadayada, and she still pulled her bs and tried to make me look like the bad neglectful friend. This was in 2018, and haven't spoken to her since. While I love her and miss her, I can't do negative, Selfish, and disrespectful behaviors in my life it disrupts my mental health and sanity. I'm just not drama driven. Have a beautiful day and thank you for sharing yours and everyone's stories.

I love this and I didn’t notice when this episode came out because the algorithm is dumb. Christy, I also breastfed for 3 years & haven’t found a mommy friend who can relate (they think I I’m weird I’m guessing) but like… I tried to ween sooner and he got sick all the time. Anna is terrific in this, as she typically is. However, the interviewer was terrible. She has a popular, intriguing guest...the reason I chose to watch this video. Yet nearly half of the time is spent on the interviewer discussing HERSELF in one manner or another. She utterly failed at obvious follow up questions. This was more like a pathetic junior high attempt at interviewing. Anna's personality & openness is the only thing that kept me watching this.
