Their movie had me friggin sobbing for like 30 minutes after, repeatedly saying "that's fucked up, that's fucked up." Like I would rather have your presence, not your presents. If he was in absolute pain, I can see it, but damn absolutely heartbreaking...

Assisted into bed and unable to so much as position or reposition one’s body let alone roll over, and then wait to be assisted back out. The movie could barely touch on the physical limitations combined with the sheer magnitude of assistance required for a person with quadriplegia: medical, technological, mechanical, and human. It is, in reality, mind boggling. My hope is that people experiencing quadriplegia would be able to find meaning, worth, and happiness in their lives. But I can sure understand how that would not be possible universally speaking. Every person is unique. The movie (and the book more so) was able to give us a glimpse of what the experience, and decision making, might entail. But those are experiences impossible to successfully imagine. Can’t be done. Empathy? Yes. But to “know”? No possible way.
