As requested, here is some more action from ITV's Gladiators from the first episode of Series 3 (1994) at National Indoor Arena in Birmingham. Enjoy.

@@LS-bw7jt that’s why we’ve officially cancelled our tv license buddy. Can’t watch any more excrement fall out of our tv anymore... it’s all the same manufactured bullshit now. The likes of deal or no deal, perfect example ... 90 second game, squeezed to 1hr. No only the piano shite, X factor single handedly hand picking people to humiliate on ‘live’ tv because they deemed it to be ok to laugh at people’s learning difficulties and or straight up humiliation at the fact their mum and dad lied to them their whole life telling them they’re the best singer in the world. So Simon decided to let them go through about 5 auditions prior to standing on the main stage to then crush their entire life live on tv. That’s not reality tv - that’s just fucked up mate. In school that’s called bullying ... sadistic bullying. Jeremy Kyle ? Do I even need to explain? How long if not already will it take for an xfactor or Britain’s got talent contestant to commit suicide? Because of the level of humiliation Simon allowed to commence. Oh, just let me double check the camera is on me before I crush your dreams .... it’s disgusting 🤮

So, either you too follow suit, remove your tv licence - if you’re Uk, you simply advise the bbc (British pedo corp) you no longer wish to watch bbc content not will you use the iplayer. Don’t do so and they come knocking .. other than that so long as you use a paid subscription service eg Netflix or similar you choose what you watch when you watch. @@caffeinatedtrouble A child's mind is a vessel waiting for information to be put in it. There's no reason whatsoever why they shouldn't find the best TV shows from a past era, long before they were born, to be "good" Because we were all once children with nothing in our brains! It's an accident of when we were born that determines our culture - or does it? Not for me it didn't - I discovered jazz as a teenager, a good 40 years after it was "fashionable". You know what was good about 90s shows like this? The shows were presented in a serious manner, with tiny bits of humour sprinkled in. This gave the shows competitive intensity, like what the contestants were playing for really mattered, and the presenters stuck to the job of presenting, rather than trying to be comedians. For some reason, this 'serious' manner of presentation disappeared in the 2000s and was replaced with TV presenters who are always trying to say funny things or excessive use of sarcasm, and acting like the whole thing is a big joke. That, in my opinion is why all these gameshow reboots fail, because they fail to recreate the natural human element of competitiveness, and have instead replaced it with excessive humour that is better suited to jokey type topical news quizes like 8 out of 10 cats, or Mock the Week etc. I think the producers of these modern gameshows think that 'entertainment' soley means "make them laugh", whereas actually, entertainment can be a whole range of things.

@caffeinatedtrouble3 жыл бұрын
The SKY version took itself waaaaaaaay too seriously, there was no sense of fun (or sportsmanship from the gladiators, whereas the 90s glads were always very gracious to the contenders). The revival basically played like it was made by a bunch of TV execs (or Apprentice contestants!), who had never actually grown up with the show, sitting around a table umming and ahhing over what the focus groups thought would work...
