7:20 I tried injecting css file via manifest but the styles are loaded ahead of the existing page styles, making it impossible to over-ride most styles.

This is a very good tutorial. I used your Github file to try it out. When I click the new button, it does not add anything to the search field and it ends up searching "undefined". Only when I change the value in line 18 of the init.js script to say value="dogs" does it actually search for something. Why does it search for "Mathemafia" without str being defined?

Make changes in this line btn.value = "Search Mathemafia"; Replace Mathemafia with your search keywords. It should work.
