I had a bit of water on my touchpad and i wiped it with a microfibre cloth and the mouse started to work for like 5 minutes. so i followed your steps. I couldn't take the back of the chromebook off because i didn't have a small screwdriver so i turned the chromebook upside down and put a fan on facing the back of the chromebook. my touchpad is now working. hopefully it stays working-fingers crossed

I had a scarf wrapped around my chrome book when it was in my bag and a bit of rain water got on it, not a massive amount but since then ( A year ago now) the screen has been glitching sometimes it’s clear but soon reverts back to glitching. Hello, With screen/display issues I try connecting the device to an external monitor/tv. If the problem is present also in the external monitor then there is an issue with the motherboard. If there is no problem, then the issue could be the display on the chromebook or the interface/cable between the display and motherboard. Hope it help Thanks for the comment

We were able to get the chromebook back on, but now the bottom right displays the battery as always charging (even when it's not plugged in) with the battery icon fully loaded, and clicking on lower right will reveal what percentage the power has but not estimate how many hours. It will be hard to know when it really needs a charge or stop it from dying on me without constantly checking in on it manually. Is there any fix for this?

Hello, That happened to me on the model in the video. 2 screws were covered by tiny rubber, well…..covers. I had to remove them before seeing the screws. Maybe that’s the issue with yours. Hope it helps thanks for the comment!

Hello there, I'd connect external speakers or headphones to try the sound. If it works, then I'd say the speaker on the chromebook stopped working and need to be replaced. I'll check on my chromebook if i can replicate the problem. Thanks for the comment!

I’ve got a Toshiba Chromebook bought it in 2015, some water has spilled on the bottom of it quite a lot. I wiped the bottom and moved it to somewhere dry. Hello, I have a video where I show how to reinstall the chrome OS when it fails. The link should be in the video description. Normally, all the data on your chromebook is also available in your google drive. Now, if files were left on the CB’s hard drive only, yes, those file will be deleted. Thank you for posting this! I just have one question- so my roommate spilled soda on my keyboard a few months ago, I followed the steps and was able to get it completely dry and the computer itself has been working fine (from a digital perspective) ever since! However, some of the keys on the side that got spilled on have been having some issues. Every key still works, just some of them require extra force when pushing them down to get the letter/symbol to actually appear. I'm thinking this is due to the sticky soda having compromised them all those months ago. Is this something that can be repaired? I'm fine to take it into a shop or do it myself, I'm just curious if there is anyway that this can be addressed. Thank you!

Hey, Correct, the stickiness is due to the soda. It will depend on the model, but in most cases chromebook’s keyboard are disposable. Meaning it will easy to replace it than to troubleshoot single keys. Another solution would to use an external usb/usb c keyboard. Hope it helps. Thanks for the comment
