Right in the middle of the current crisis our world is currently facing right now, new modes of doing standard things are needed. Maybe one of the most pressing needs most people have is figuring out how to transition their work practices from office spaces to spaces in the home. Doing this drastically decreases the spread of the novel coronavirus and will be crucial to our country overcoming the spread of COVID-19. Here's what I've done that has worked well, and I hope there are some ideas in here that help you out, too.

For those of you watching in the year 2032, the reason he says “you know what I’m talking about, everyone knows, I cant say it because KZbin is weird” he is talking about the 2020 coronavirus global pandemic, which you can read more about by looking it up on Wikipedia.

I've been working from home for a while but only when I need to be in for a delivery/plumber/whatever. Now that we are all relegated to our homes, I had to fashion something very similar on my kitchen table (using a low plant stand, a wired peripherals). Just like you said, setting it up, having it more like your normal office really makes a difference and allows me to be more productive.

Honestly, my Asus Chromebox 3 has been super versatile at home and when traveling. Last year, while staying at hotels, I simply hooked it up to the TVs in the rooms I stayed at using HDMI. At home, I have it VESA mounted, so it takes zero space. For keyboard, I am using the Logitech K480 but really hope to pick up the K580 soon. For sound, I mostly use a Logitech H390 headset. I have a Type-C to Type-C cable to fast charge my smartphone while I'm working. I would say the only things I am missing are a USB 3.1 hub and some 3.1 MicroSD card readers to daisychain and provide some extra storage. (Not ready to swap the SSD, though I did expand the RAM a few months ago.)

My "coffee shop" setup is similar, just forgoing the laptop stand and the external keyboard. Laptop on the left, external monitor on the right in front of the mouse. If I don't bother with plugging in power, the whole thing takes maybe 15 seconds to unpack and set up. Super handy when I try to get out since I work from home normally. Unfortunately, that setup won't be getting used for a while.

I came to this channel after seeing your review for the upcoming Lenovo Duet chromebook and this is just an incredible channel. I'm seriously considering getting a chromebook if just to simplify having both a 2-in-1 laptop and a tablet. I'm also working from home, however I have a desktop that I'm using just because it's more powerful than my laptop, runs windows, and has three monitors; but it's also in my bedroom, so I definitely want to find something - especially if this goes into the summer - that will get me out of the backrooms for even just a day (seeing as my normal coffee shop adventures are done) I've also been interested in expanding my laptop monitor, which I have an app to do it from my laptop to tablet, but it can be tricky especially when I was sitting on the couch. This is a perfect, quick, and simple set up that can easily be done anywhere. I can't wait for the Duet to come out and to see what your opinion of the final release will be!

I work from home every day, so my routine is unaffected by the unspeakable, but I recently received a new Pixelbook Go, and the Go's effects are everything I hoped for and more. I installed Crouton on a Chromebook in the past but never made a habit of using it. Switching to Linux with Crouton was too much trouble, and my favorite Chromebook (Samsung's Luminous Titan) had an AMD processor. The Go is my first opportunity to use Linux more fully integrated with Chrome OS, and I love it. Full integration, which isn't far away now, will finally make Chrome OS and Linux a serious challenger to Windows on the desktop. This development is far more significant than Android apps IMO. I have a powerful command line, far more powerful than the Windows command line! I'm writing scripts again! Feels like old times ...

This is very similar to the setup I have. I don't use an external mouse or keyboard but do have an AOC USB-C monitor. Another thing I've added recently is an HP OfficeJet 200 printer. It's very compact and has a battery so doesn't need a power connection, has wireless printing, and workems perfectly with my Acer 713 Chromebook.

Hi, philosophy student here, I been looking for a home desktop setup for a long time and since my career makes me not only read a lot but also write a lot (on digital media mainly) I couldn't decide what better option was for my situation because I needed a work area with enough space for, let's call it "physical media" (books, articles on paper, anything non-digital) but also some space for working for as time as needed on a computer, and this set p must be the first one that not only looks so easy to setup but also meets the requirements that I been looking for. Thanks a lot for sharing with us! And hope everybody is doing okay.

Here is a note about the setup: If you have a Chromebook, which can be folded (Tablet Mode) you can simply use this in "stand mode" (v shape) and one doesnt need a stand.

I do something very similar but I make the footprint smaller still by placing my 2nd monitor (ipad) on the keyboard.of my laptop also on the laptop stand. So that my laptop screen is above my iPad screen. I find the displays stacked like this much more ergonomic as I don’t have to move my head side to side. It also fits on any coffee shop table and doesn’t look so weird in Starbucks 😂 Good to see others use a similar set up, this multi screen portable set up is the future. 👍🏼 good vid bro.

I use a similar setup but Mac (because that's what my work uses) and just thought it would be really great if there was a laptop with a detachable keyboard. As in the body stays there but the keyboard section lifts out of it, connects with Bluetooth, and charges when re-attached. I have a keyboard I bring in my bag, but it would be great if I didn't have to have a whole second keyboard and still be able to raise my laptop up like you show with yours. I love that little aluminum stand.

Thanks for the video, Robby. For years my office typing has been done on an Apple keyboard with numeric keypad, which I've grown quite familiar with over the years. Now that I am working from home for the foreseeable future, I have ordered a monitor, and am now trying to sort out a wireless keyboard that will work for both my work PC and my Chromebook. Most of my work hours will be spent using my work PC (Lenovo) and periodically my Chromebook (Asus). I will also be using the Chromebook when not on the clock. I am hoping the K580 might do the trick. Can you tell me if the key spacing and size will be somewhat similar to my Apple keyboard? (I am aware that the key configuration differs, that the arrow keys and numeric key pad are in closer proximity to the main keyboard) Do you know how well the ChromeOS version will play with a OC running Microsoft? Thanks for any feedback you can provide. I appreciate it!

I could see using this type of setup for travelling, set up in a small hotel-room and have everything I need to do work or whatever. However I wouldn't want to use this sort of setup when I'm at home, my situation is a fair bit different being a bachelor in a small apartment I can dedicate a portion of my place to a dedicated office area/gaming setup with my main computer on one side connected to a main and vertical monitor and my laptop mounted on a vesa arm on the other with the laptop screen at eye-level. I find that works a lot better for me since I'm a fairly tall guy.

Personally I prefer the dedicated devices for each of my uses. IE I currently have a chromebox hooked up to a large monitor (43 inch dell) for use at home and on the go I have an android tablet (but am very likely going to get that lenovo one when its available to replace it). Since chromeos is built to have all your data with you no matter where I go I find this kind of setup works better for me than trying to frankenstein a laptop into a portable workstation.
