Really appreciate Kayla how you both keep staying upbeat when weather screws up your Farming Plans. You all manage to get done what you can and even though a few grumblings are to be expected, you really do make an effort to see the good side of Negativity and that is Positively a reflection of you and Jason's Character! Until I started following this channel and a few other farming channels, i had NO CLUE as to how frustrating it can be. I knew it was more than what "Green Acres" showed on TV...lolol....but I never appreciated the true sacrifices you all deal with on a 24/7 schedule! It is not lost on this knucklehead now! Cheers and Blessings From Ohio and Keep Strutting with a Smile! Happy Fathers Day to Jason and ALL The Dad Fans in here!

Kayla you did a good job raking, your video was really clear. As you know there are a few people who do not know the daily grind it takes to take care of a farm, you do you wake up every morning to what was left over from yesterday you look around count the hands it the same as yesterday. Thank you and your husband for everything you do. Oh by the way North Texas forecast is the high 90s next 5 days then 6 days over 100. Stay cool

I definitely can relate to the struggles of putting good hay up. Out here in Northern Utah we have to bale at night or early in the morning, because when the dew sets in it helps with making a good bale and helps the alfalfa leaves stay on the stems while bailing. The past couple of years we have struggled with getting any dew at night because the breeze at night does not allow it to set in. Love the videos, good luck with your guys hay season this year!

Yes! We’ve had several good years where we run as long & hard as we can right up until we hit rain … this year there’s just been so much frustration with the weather. But at the same time it’s like you can’t curse the rain!

Luv your channel. Spent many a hour in the hayfield. Started when I was about 6 or 7 on my knees in the front seat driving our 65 Ford truck between row after row. Dad would load by himself and I would help in the barn rolling off hay. Then graduated up to hauling by myself. 1000’s upon 1000’s. We worked for several different farmers in our community in East Texas.

Yea Kayla it was over 50 yrs ago when I started. There was no accumulators or grapples. Round bailers were rare. Farmers were paying $0.10 a bail. By the time I graduated high school we were up to a quarter. Matter of fact I hauled hay on the day I graduated. Went from the hayfield to graduation. Lol.

Matter of fact you and Jason were in Henderson,Tx at a cattle show about black Herefords. My oldest son was born in Henderson back in 1988 on thanksgiving day. Small world huh. Not to mention we don’t live too apart now. We call home now outside of Memphis. The military brought us here in 1993 been here since.

My dad and I decided to do a small hobby soybean crop this year with ground that had been hay for years. Of course this Spring northern Missouri (Moberly area) has had rain about every 3 days for the last 3 months. Finally got the beans in today!

Kayla, as you said it is what it is, as breakdowns or weather is an issue and some days it all flows and then it doesn't and in your business your trying to make good getting the hay baled and make deliveries. After awhile the heat and humidity takes its toll and there seems to be a lot of the country is going to expierance this weather and the west is really in a drought condition so I guess keep on keeping on.

Was up in your area yesterday. Saw that you had a lot of weather and wind...wind..wind the night before. Over our way the corn that was up was leaning over, so see the issues this year arent just on the hay producers. You guys stay positive, and in a few weeks youll be looking back and laughing. Be safe with the heat coming monday.

Have you guy considered a Flex Rake? That's the companies name. I've never been around them but they look pretty slick. One tractor does the raking and bailing all in one.
@ChroniclesofKayla2 жыл бұрын
We haven’t! I’ll have to check it out. Problem is though for us. Usually we need to have the hay air a bit between raking and baling.

Viewed 6-18-22 from Illinois Hi Kayla, I know from experience and you know, the WEATHER pretty much dictates and drives any farming operation. Question: Based on your baler setting (length) approximately how many small bales equate to one big bale? Does the JD have a slow tire leak ???
@ChroniclesofKayla2 жыл бұрын
One large square is roughly 13-15 small squares for the way we bale them. Or that’s what we estimate it to be!! Thanks for hanging with us!!

Why don't you use the 4440 to rake?
@ChroniclesofKayla2 жыл бұрын
We couldn’t rake as fast with the 44 as we do the JX - it’s also a smaller tractor allowing us to make smaller turns / plus not get into the rake either.

I'm telling my age here but I made 2 cents a bale to pick up hay back in the day. And if you got lucky the bales were 40 or 50 lbs but I could make 20 dollars a day.

why not take the tractor off the mower to rake with may be over kill but would have AC have done it myself when it was super hot out when i worked on the farm the bigger tractor also used less fuel hard to see but it did also with the more power it used less fuel from not having to work so hard

Thank you for the support- I do test it on multiple devices (our Tv, my phone the iPad & of course my computer) prior to hitting “publish”. The new camera has several upgrades. Including wireless mics - that was sent & recommended to me. I unfortunately still can’t control the wind here on open flat ground that makes it hard to edit out. I currently use the same set up as Sandi Brock, plus an additional mic.

My hay guys keep sending me apology txts because they keep pushing baling out. We are finally getting rain. It’s such a science. I’m always telling them It’s ok cuz it is what it is. People need to not be twatwads(sorry if I can’t say that) and understand farmers are doing their absolute best. I also had one apologizing because he increase price $5 a round bale. I expected hay to go up…like are you kidding me? I’d pay more.

@ChroniclesofKayla2 жыл бұрын
We used to round bale - but our market is drived to sell Squares - we can not make the same income selling Round Bales in our area. The way we can with the squares. It’s also easier to haul & ship the squares as well.
@reppfarms44932 жыл бұрын
BUT-fewer breakdown. When I got rid of my JD 14t and bought my JD 430, I thought I died and went to heaven. I know the market is better for large squares, but rounds are just easier to make

Why didn’t you just purchase the tractor instead of loaning it and get rid of all your cabless tractors it’s better to own a cab tractor than a cabless one because you don’t have to be out in the elements getting rained on or having to swallow the occasional bugs
@ChroniclesofKayla2 жыл бұрын
The loaner to buy would be 4.5% interest where a new one was 0% - it’s all about doing the math & penciling out - the ones we have - serve a purpose.
