Some people have sided with Square saying they were simply protecting their IP, but I feel that IP should only be protected when that IP is used. They haven't done anything new with it since 2000 when they released Chrono Cross, which in my opinion was a huge disappointment. I still play Chrono Trigger it from time to time on my SNES. However, I'd buy an HD remake in a heartbeat. I've boycotted Square. The last Square game I bought was Final Fantasy Tactics Advance in 2003, the C&D was 2004.

even if they are still using the ip just make something better than a literal nobody with no budget and it doesn't need protecting

I'm playing through cross for the first time at the moment... I like the battle system, but still prefer triggers. Triggers battle system is great because of double and triple techs: they tell the story, the relationships between the characters, through the spells and abilities they can perform together. Having the battle system help tell the story is an ultimate achievement that I can't think of any other game ever doing.

The chrono cross haters...I will never understand you guys. Both these games stand alone for completely separate reasons, but one thing they share (And which Cross has more of an abundance of) is timeless music, charm, and heart. If you fully understood how Cross' story tied into Trigger, you would love it so much more. In the past 16yrs I have learned so much more about Cross' story as it pertains to events after Trigger, and it has made me understand how much of a classic it is.

Me too... would pay even more. But that remake must NOT be made from Squaresoft... they will fuck it up again.

My only problem with this remix is that the 1:14 part doesnt feel as powerfull as the original.

they did a fine job on the DS re-release. A 3DS Chrono Cross would be fantastic IMO. Although of course I would love Chrono Ressurection, and Crimson Echoes... Chrono Trigger is just perfect as is.
