I did not make this song, I ripped it from youtube, looped it, and added my own mix or rain sounds to mimic the ytmnd version.

My brother showed me this game through an SNES emulator. And every time something big happened in the game, I would wait until he came to visit me again just to tell him how fun it was to listen to Spekkio’s song or how sad it was that I lost Chrono. Little did I know he played that game religiously each year and knew every single detail about it, yet never hesitated when getting hyped up or sad with me when I showed him my progress. He was 16 or maybe 15 and I was 8. He lived with his mom and I lived with mine. We would only meet once or twice a year. Then he fell for the alcohol, dropped out of college many times, and our dad stopped liking him or at least I remember him shouting at him over the phone, and we stopped talking let alone seeing each other. I met him again when I turned 17 and he was 24/25. I was leaving to study college in the US and he wanted to say goodbye. He gave my first try of a cigarette, and after I coughed and all he gave me advice to overcome all the crap I was feeling after my first breakup. At night in his apartment, I was looking over his stuff and found an ancient SNES and Chrono Trigger just popped into my mind. He showed me his saved game, and we talked for hours about stupid child things. When he dropped off nearby my house bcs our dad couldn’t know we were hanging out, I couldn’t but cry. This game is like the only time I could see my brother detached from the anger in our dad’s voice. Like the brother that cared so much for me regardless of how his life was going. I miss you.

This piece of music is the closest to the feeling that Crono and his friends experiencing in the game. The beautiful violin, harp and other instruments invoke a mysterious but grand atmosphere of the forest while the rain depicts peaceful moments when the crew rest under the roof of a tree and reflect on their entire journey.

I went to the Amazon Rainforest, from Iquitos, Peru. I found so many small streams and huge trees on our hikes through the jungle, and this theme was in my head the whole time. The Amazon rainforest is beyond vast, and the true secrets and vastness of it are astounding. The title, 'Secret of the Forest' is a perfect name for sure - something I really felt when I visited.

Thank you so much for this. This really contributed in saving my life. A couple months ago I got a depressive episode because an emotional dependance. it was so strong that I couldn't even eat for weeks, it was so hard to do even a single bite. This caused me several problems. I couldn't go out from bed. Every single day I woke up covered in sweat. It was really tough days for me, and all I could do when I was all alone was to listen to this song. This, for some reason, comforted me so much. So if you are having a hard time, you need to know that this isn't forever, and if you think you can't do it, go search for psychological help. You are not alone.

This music was created through struggle, a depressive episode in the creator's life. I think it's true through generations that it takes great struggle in one's life to create great art such as Yasunori Mitsuda was able to accomplish. Lets be thankful that we can feel such great emotion for the work that imperfect beings like us accomplished.

I think it is because Yasunori Mitsuda is the master of making music sound organic and the tones and melodies hit you way beyond your eardrums. They seem to reach much deeper and can affect your emotions even if you have no context or reference to the material. Try to listen to the original OST for ChronoTrigger

Dude, I remember that when I had 7 or 8 I didn't had the oportunnity to play this game on a SNES, so instead I found it in a collection of games in an emulator for an old PC that my dad had (I still got it tho!). I think I ignored it for a while before I finally decided to see what was it about. The intro gave me chills, and I started playing. I remember that I used to play after school for at least 1 or 2 hours in the week. My sister knew about it and I think she taught me how to play. It was one of the most magical experiences I've ever had with a game. I remember that I always used my save slots for the cutsenes I liked the most (Like the Frog one, I bet you know which), but it was hard for me to beat it alone, so sometimes I watched some videos and guides about how to get throught the hard parts. I left it for a while, but I'm pretty sure I finished it. I felt a void in my stomach for like a week because I was really attached to it. So I started to play it every year (or somethimes for two). like a tradition. But that was before school got hard, I didn't kept doing it. Now I really want to play it again, because I played the whole game many times without knowing I could get more endings, "different" stories, new items, techniques, everything. Perhaps I can get every single one? Idk. I want to, so I'll try. And after I finish it, I'll come back here. Terranigma will be the next.

Despite Chrono Trigger's immense stakes concerning time, death, will, and other innumerable existential concerns, there is still at all time periods the same mystique felt by this little forest. The Mana series was and is such an integral part of my life. From playing Secret as a very young child, it got me into the rpg genre. Then playing Legend of Mana of through my preteen years. The series especially Legend Of Mana got me through my very difficult childhood. I felt like an outcast for liking anime, jrpgs, and among other things that would have been considered "nerdy" for lack of a better term. It also got me through my parents divorce. I was really hurting and I had no one to turn to but no matter how hard it got I kept struggling and moving forward. The trials, no pun, I went through has made such a strong person and proud of the man I become. I'm having a hard time continuing this cause I have minor PTSD from everything. Thanks for uploading this friend and if anyone is struggling out never give up. And remember, there's always a light that shines in the darkness I know these games a really easy to emulate but if you have the money I encourage you to buy the copies available. I know some of those have Denuvo and yeah i hate it too but my love for this series outweighs my hatred for Denuvo. Show developers that their is still an audience for games like this. For a game that's 26 years old it holds up amazingly. I recommend emulating it when you get the chance, because the whole game's soundtrack is just as good as this.

@@SeamusTheHunter Unfortunately despite the improvements, there’s still some glitches, the annoying poorly made anime scenes, and a few sprites where the mobile filtration effect can’t be turned off regardless of if you select to turn off the “improved” graphics as a whole or not. This is one of those games as a 90s kid I saw around, and saw my friends play, but didn't play myself until I was an adult. My wife actually bought it for me when we first got together. I remember getting home from my morning job and playing this on our tube TV until she got off at midnight every day. Let me tell you, there is never a wrong time to enjoy this game and the nostalgia you will get from it later is just so powerful. It really is a masterpiece. Go play it right now.

This song is what got me through one of the most stressful and dull office jobs I had. I'd put this on between the mountainous amount of phone calls or mail I would receive. It soothed my anxiety during the brief pauses between calls where I was crippled with worry over who I was going to have to deal with next, such as an angry client who owed money, or my boss scrutinizing me for not understanding the 10 different complex softwares we used. I quit after 4 months. Went back to my old job with a better perspective. Listening to this song still helps me to escape, in any setting. It just has this vastness to it.

Time did pass, not only in chrono trigger, but even I got old. And my brothers got old, they didn't get old enough, but they did disappear, just like time itself. Like many of the other commenters here, I have been in online school since the pandemic began in 2020. Since that March, time has taken on an oppressive, overbearing quality. My internal clock has been completely lost, and I find myself unable to recall memories like I used to. In a sense, I feel adrift through time, like the cast of Chrono Trigger. As I'm writing this, I'm working on my final assignment of college before I graduate. This song has helped ground me and push onward, through tests and assignments, hostile living conditions and crippling loneliness. I feel that "Secret of the Forest" comforts me because it doesn't deny your pain, but it doesn't allow you to wallow in it. Time marches on, and everything comes to an end. You will get through your struggles. You may feel trapped in Guardia Forest, but there is a clearing just around the corner if you keep going.

damn dude my last few years of college were the "we're gonna start turning in assignments online" days and I thought that was the most obnoxious shit ever. They're still not letting people back into schools? ooof, I don't envy you. Not to make you even more jealous, but we even had designated smoking areas where we would all gather and jam out. Those days are gone and the future generations will never know the joy of having a smoke and jamming out between classes.
