My brother showed me this game through an SNES emulator. And every time something big happened in the game, I would wait until he came to visit me again just to tell him how fun it was to listen to Spekkio’s song or how sad it was that I lost Chrono. Little did I know he played that game religiously each year and knew every single detail about it, yet never hesitated when getting hyped up or sad with me when I showed him my progress. He was 16 or maybe 15 and I was 8. He lived with his mom and I lived with mine. We would only meet once or twice a year. Then he fell for the alcohol, dropped out of college many times, and our dad stopped liking him or at least I remember him shouting at him over the phone, and we stopped talking let alone seeing each other. I met him again when I turned 17 and he was 24/25. I was leaving to study college in the US and he wanted to say goodbye. He gave my first try of a cigarette, and after I coughed and all he gave me advice to overcome all the crap I was feeling after my first breakup. At night in his apartment, I was looking over his stuff and found an ancient SNES and Chrono Trigger just popped into my mind. He showed me his saved game, and we talked for hours about stupid child things. When he dropped off nearby my house bcs our dad couldn’t know we were hanging out, I couldn’t but cry. This game is like the only time I could see my brother detached from the anger in our dad’s voice. Like the brother that cared so much for me regardless of how his life was going. I miss you.

I went to the Amazon Rainforest, from Iquitos, Peru. I found so many small streams and huge trees on our hikes through the jungle, and this theme was in my head the whole time. Thank you so much for this. This really contributed in saving my life. A couple months ago I got a depressive episode because an emotional dependance. it was so strong that I couldn't even eat for weeks, it was so hard to do even a single bite. This caused me several problems. I couldn't go out from bed. Every single day I woke up covered in sweat. It was really tough days for me, and all I could do when I was all alone was to listen to this song. This, for some reason, comforted me so much. They seem to reach much deeper and can affect your emotions even if you have no context or reference to the material. Try to listen to the original OST for ChronoTrigger

Dude, I remember that when I had 7 or 8 I didn't had the oportunnity to play this game on a SNES, so instead I found it in a collection of games in an emulator for an old PC that my dad had (I still got it tho!). I think I ignored it for a while before I finally decided to see what was it about. The intro gave me chills, and I started playing. I remember that I used to play after school for at least 1 or 2 hours in the week. My sister knew about it and I think she taught me how to play. It was one of the most magical experiences I've ever had with a game. I remember that I always used my save slots for the cutsenes I liked the most (Like the Frog one, I bet you know which), but it was hard for me to beat it alone, so sometimes I watched some videos and guides about how to get throught the hard parts. I left it for a while, but I'm pretty sure I finished it. I felt a void in my stomach for like a week because I was really attached to it. So I started to play it every year (or somethimes for two). like a tradition. But that was before school got hard, I didn't kept doing it. Now I really want to play it again, because I played the whole game many times without knowing I could get more endings, "different" stories, new items, techniques, everything. Perhaps I can get every single one? Idk. I want to, so I'll try. And after I finish it, I'll come back here. Terranigma will be the next.

Time did pass, not only in chrono trigger, but even I got old. And my brothers got old, they didn't get old enough, but they did disappear, just like time itself. And my mother is not like she was, she is no longer in the next room, always prepared to save me from myself. I am now alone, no one is on the other side of my wall. I thought time was a good thing, like in chrono trigger

There are plenty of things to look forward to if you decouple yourself from the past. Imo if you spend all your time afraid that you didn't enjoy what you had, you won't fully appreciate what you have *right* now. It's all part of growing up.

This is awesome. Reading Greenpeace's email talking about how are things, though, is not :( We must do something to protect the trees, people... It's a calling for all the wisdom on Earth to do something, for us to keep having an Earth. We must evolve as beings and take action somehow. If you are reading this, please, meditate, train, learn, study, evolve, protect the planet!

Like many of the other commenters here, I have been in online school since the pandemic began in 2020. Since that March, time has taken on an oppressive, overbearing quality. My internal clock has been completely lost, and I find myself unable to recall memories like I used to. In a sense, I feel adrift through time, like the cast of Chrono Trigger. As I'm writing this, I'm working on my final assignment of college before I graduate. This song has helped ground me and push onward, through tests and assignments, hostile living conditions and crippling loneliness. I feel that "Secret of the Forest" comforts me because it doesn't deny your pain, but it doesn't allow you to wallow in it. Time marches on, and everything comes to an end. You will get through your struggles. You may feel trapped in Guardia Forest, but there is a clearing just around the corner if you keep going.
@ThrashCommander2 жыл бұрын
damn dude my last few years of college were the "we're gonna start turning in assignments online" days and I thought that was the most obnoxious shit ever. They're still not letting people back into schools? ooof, I don't envy you. Not to make you even more jealous, but we even had designated smoking areas where we would all gather and jam out. Those days are gone and the future generations will never know the joy of having a smoke and jamming out between classes.
