hey nice to see you've added this absolute classic to your have played list i didn't like rpgs for most of my gaming life , so it wasn't till i too was a teen using emulation on the wii when i first played chrono trigger , i believe the only other kind of old school jrpg i tried before this was ff6 which i got bored very early in but chrono was so good i played it all the way almost up till the main big ending , then i got stuck on the super computer boss and dropped it for a year ~w~" but then i eventually worked my way past that and finished it also LULWUT 90$ FOR BRAINAGE 2??....

4:06 fun fact, that is Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, not Toriyama.

Note: When facing enemies that have counters. Sometimes it is better to use 3-Technique or 2-Technique, to lower the damage you will get from the counters. Because when all three attack at the same time, it is counted as one attack, and not three except for I think 2 exceptions. Same with the 2-Technique makes two attack but counted as one. So there is a lot of strategy in this game. Also now to play the Sequel Chrono Cross, personally I had fun with it.

First played Chrono Trigger on SNES emulation, gived up at the sewers Then, years have passed, and I bought the game on DS (in 2019/2020 if I recal, maybe 2021); this was when I was finally able to complete the main story and reaching NG+. I remember having restarted the game from the beginning because I thought I was softlocked at spinning around Spico for the first time (forgot my left and right that time), and on a less sure note, having fought Giga Gaia when Crono was dead. I mainly stop after getting only like 1 alt endings besides the game over; One with one of those fuzzballs going around a Nu. This ending I got it when I wanted to do the Reptile world ending (I think it was because I was gone fighting Lavos as early as I could with the NG+). Didn't even understood you have to spell the name of Luca's Mom (Lara) with the buttons to save her until some time after finishing the game. I remember that the french translation of the game (who was made for the DS port, as it was the first time Chrono Trigger was available in pal regions outside of import shops or magazine tinbits) had different names (I think Masa and Mune were "Grand" & "Leon". Giving the blade a name reminiscent of french local swords like Durendal or Joyeuse). I should retry this game one day, or buy the Switch port of Chrono Cross/Radical Dreamers. In any cases, it is really one of the iconic games of all time; like, it's SO good.

So about that prehistoric part... The "soup eating contest" is actually a drinking contest. That's why Luca has a hangover. Speaking of Luca, Ayla puts some moves on Luca when they first meet. "Ayla respect strong men, strong women", was originally a reference to Ayla being bi-sexual.

Actually you can run from battles but it works like FF7 where you need to hold down the L and R buttons. Easy to miss tho if you're not used to Square's older games 😅

Count me in as someone who has CT as his favourite game ever (this is despite the crappy Toriyama designs). Not my first turn-based RPG, but still hasn't been topped as an overall package for nearly 30 years now.
