Chrono Trigger on Nintendo DS is over a hundred bucks?

I got Chrono Trigger for the Nintendo DS years ago when it was a retail release for about thirty bucks. Now it goes for over a hundred.

Did you buy it from Ebgames back in the day? Because you're missing the poster that came with it (a small folded poster of the front artwork).

Admittedly it was a birthday present so technically I did not go to the shop and buy it. I suspect it was old Futureshop this one came from.

It’s a great game. Best experienced on the DS in my opinion.

Welcome! I'm glad Swifto got you to me. I never played the SNES original but the DS version was awesome.

@@DowntheRabbitHole0 The NDS version is the superior version for a few reasons: The translation is more accurate to how it is supposed to be. As always the SNES version was censored during its localization in the west. The only defining feature of the OG cart is the contents it came with, and listening to the OST on proper hardware.

I had a copy i had bought off Amazon but sold it when it started going for crazy prices. Square Enix often reprints their back catalogue even on the Nintendo DS so it would not surprise me if it got another print run in the future.

There’s also the ps1 version that I believe is split with a final fantasy game. And the ds version is cool because it has the anime cut scenes from the ps1 version with none of the load times. So it’s kinda the definitive edition of chrono trigger. I got mine cart only probably 6 or 7 years ago or so and then bought the box and manual off eBay after that for less than 10 bucks I think. Glad I did that!

I bought The World Ends With You instead of Chrono Trigger in 2016. I still regret it to this day that I didn't get both (but I still love TWEWY)

The controls seem to be hit or miss depending on if you can get used to them (controlling characters on both screens can be tough) but if it clicks, it's arguably the best game that ever took advantage of the uniqueness of the DS. Chrono Trigger was arguably the better investment (since TWEWY isn't super expensive compared to CT... still salty about that) but I think TWEWY is the more interesting game. Only don't get it if you don't like shonen style anime/manga or don't like broody Sasuke-esque protagonists (changes by the end but it's a long road).
