Chrono Trigger OST | Is It Really Good or Just Nostalgia? | Music Producer Reacts

Chilisass has been my best friend, bandmate, and brother from another mother for the past 15 years. He is helping me out in doing the voice overs for the videos since it's really not my forte. Chili is a JRPG player that has only played some Final Fantasy games haha, I thought it would be interesting to see how he reacts and breakdown some of my favorite game OSTs. Hopefully he becomes a full-blown JRPG fan in the coming weeks lol. In these video, he will react to one of my all time favorite game, Chrono Trigger!

In 2:11:34 world revolution if you pay attention you can hear the lavos theme (2:12:00) as well as the chrono trigger main theme (2:12:57). Song represents the conflict between Lavos and Crono's party

you can usually tell if a track in Chrono Trigger is Uematsu's when it sounds like it could fit in FFVI, like "Silent Light" has a similar tone and instrumentation as "Phantom Forest" for example

"That must be the first time Chrono gets triggered." lol SPOILER: The Chrono Trigger is an item from very late in the game, and you don't even have to play that ending. (But you should. Well, you should play all endings.) Crono (no h) is also the name of the main character.

Crono is called "Chrono" in original japanese version. They changed his name to "Crono" in english translation only because in english version every character's name can only have 5 letters.

By the way the "Oceanic Palace" site of the song "Undersea Palace" it is a place where the sense of urgency is at its maximum and it is something closer to a fortress than a palace, so it has nothing that resembles the theme suggested by the name.

Im never going to play chrono trigger cause i don't have the patience for old school RPGs but the OST alone made me fall in love with the game

Depending on who you ask, the game only has like 15-25 hours of gameplay. That is tremendously less than anything nowadays. Also the game paces you at equal rate of experience/leveling up to story progression. You'll never feel like you're falling behind in power.

I belive the the "better" tracks are from the ps1 version that supported cd audio and prerecorded audio and was made with more modern digital music production software that sampled real instruments at higher cd quality.

@@rimuruborges7785 Nope, the "arranged" versions are the ones @NGEvangeliman is talking about, which came out with the PS1 rerelease, the arranged songs are for the FMV animated cutscenes.

It’s because this is the inferior DS port which had the music recorded and remastered. It’s inferior to the original SNES version.
