i bet the last 'service' was by somebody who dropped oil on anything they could reach without disassembling anything (or even taking the movement out of the case), and charged the owner big money for it too because it was running ok when it came in and they'd never know

Greetings from the Napa Valley CA Another great video. That movement was a mess. good advice about taking back cover off to see what you are in for. Can't blame the hair on the pallet fork on you. so good to see a real professional at work. That really inspires me to move forward. Still setting my work bench up and now looking into a microscope with a camera so I can remember how to reassemble things and be able to see what i'm doing. Thanks and have a great day.

Seems more ogers had previously touched that one...maybe wrong amount and type of oils and poorly reassembled that kept it unfit for water contact...but the owner kept watering it anyway?

Wow, so much damage. I can't believe this watch is only 11yrs old. I'm not a Rolex fan, and I was on the verge of criticising them, but this looks more like the fault of the previous "watchmaker". I have Seiko's from the 60's & 70's, that still look perfect.

Wow that movement is filthy.wondering if some of that crud is tiny metal shavings from automatic rotor. Can you tell me if there's a place I can purchase movement holders like the one you used for this 3135 movement?maybe even a set of them that'll work with the more common sized movements?I'll personally more than likely will never work on anything other than seiko movements(mainly nh35a and nh36)along with sellita sw200's and eta 2824-2 movements being that's what all my automatics have powering them.been told its better to use these style holders especially when reseting hands rather then using movement holder like the bergeon 4040-P synthetic adjustable holder that I have.is that actually true or is the holder I have sufficient enough for the average hobbiest such as myself?

It is possible with a generic movement holder, but specific tools are recommendable Richard.

I have here a watch with more than 50 years of abuse and probably lack of services, , and it didnt took much to put it working, iam not sure if it would happen the same with an olex.

as a mechanic yes it makes sense.i will buy a rolex for 25 buks, they are crap.-after 10 years they don need a clean they need a complete rebuild.crap
